I was hoping it'd bloom first

It.. isn't likely from mechanical damage as I keep this plant upright in a holder so nothing touches those sections.

1. It came in a 4 inch pot but it seems to have so very few fine roots - does that bottom section act as a root itself?
2. If i don't really care to have a fat caudex can I just pot it in a smaller terra cotta pot? Or will that fat root continue to grow downward?
3. I don't know if I like how the form of the stems? with the leaves look. If I cut that tallest section off would it hurt the plant?
4. The body is a little spongey, is that okay?

How old do you think it is? It was like 12 inches wide maybe

Decided to be more careful with his trichomes so I no longer handle it roughly

When should one re pot (in dormancy, in growth?)
It's about 1 cm away from the edge of the current 6-8 inch clay pot

Last year I cut the vine off when it was mostly dried and a vine shot out soon after... that made me wonder if it was dormant the entire time I thought it was still awake. Should I leave the vine on?
