First harvest in my new allotment
Got some pretty large cloves out of my elephant garlic
The haul from my annual seed spreading
They are small but still pretty. Got about 300g of seeds aswell for next season's spread.
Did about 30 ish spots around my city and got a few large patches and a couple small spots that survived to maturity.
This year's seed harvest
Some mixed varieties of peony and Hungarian and some unknown or mixed hybrids seeds. All picked when windows have opened naturally or pods dried on the plant. What do yall think of the viability of them. Not sure why some are dark and some are blue and some are brown and some are orrange or even pink and white ones? They look mature too me. Would love to share some out to the uk community if wanted.
Why do some pods mature tiny and some huge from the same seed packet?
Sprinkled 500g of seeds around my city's green belt and some inthe same patch are huge and some are tiny but you can tell they're fully matured. Why is that?
Found these beauties in the wild
Some of the biggest pods ive gotten this year. Currently fan drying for bouquet arrangements. More partially dried ones in the box thats acting as the intake for the fan thats blowing across the fresh ones.
Why are some still squishy while some are hard
Have been air drying for over a week and some heads are rock hard and some are squishy, have they gone bad or moldy? The smaller pile is he rock hard dry ones I kinda picked out.
Wheres the latex
I snapped a head of this bud and its clear liquid when squeezed and not a bit of that white latex that usually comes when you cut these. Is it still a somni? Or some other variation.
What do yall think of my arrangements
Planning to let dry for Christmas gifts. Have them wrapped in bundles of ten and back in jars as shown.
Any thing I can do better let me know?
Should I deadhead or is she done.
If I was to desdhead the pods would she produce more blooms or is she done for the season. I did enjoy the dark purple centers with that beautiful pinky outer, almost seductive.
