Crown no longer locks

For the last few months I started noticing the crown felt grainy and really hard to lock in place. Finally today it no longer latches and locks in place. As I push and turn it, I hear a clicking sound. Not sure what mechanism or part is malfunctioning but really bummed about it. It’s only 3 years old and well within the 5 year warranty window. This is my daily workhorse. Has anyone ever experienced this and what was the outcome?
