What happens to all those unused designs?

Forgive my ignorance but im not an architecture student or professional. Im an archaeologist. In undergrad I took a history of ancient architecture class which turned out to be more geared towards architecture students. I was actually the only non architecture student in the class.

My professor would often show us designs that he had inspired by ancient structures and then he would show us what he actually built in his career and it was night and day difference. I understand that money and what the customer wants is like a big part of why we dont get those cool unique designs.

But like what ends up happening with all those cool designs, drawings, and renders? do they just sit in a filing cabinet somewhere and get forgotten? are they simply used as filling for their portfolios? Seems kinda depressing. is there a place where architects upload all their cool stuff that they will never build?

I’m an archaeology student looking for a group of Artemis worshipers from my youth

My family is from the small village of Vravrona near the Athens airport. In the town there is a temple to Artemis and a small museum.

I recall when I was a child playing near the ruins I came across a group of worshipers performing some kind of ceremony near the site. This summer I will be going back and I’d like to interview them. However I haven’t been able to find any information about them. Nobody in the town seems to know much about them. This was almost 20 years ago and I haven’t seen them since.

This summer I’m doing an archaeological research project across Greece where I will be visiting multiple temples and museums. My research is not related to modern day worship but one of my advisors was really interested in learning more about their practices as he has a lecture on the site for his class.

Does anyone know anything about them or could point me in the right direction? I’ll actually be taking lots of photos of the sites and museums during my research so I’ll have lots of reference photos for anyone interested.

Archaeology student conducting informal research, seeking site recommendations

I’m an archaeology student who will be studying in Athens this fall. While I’m there, I’d love to explore smaller archaeological sites and local museums across Greece. I am looking for some inspiration for my research in ancient Greek archaeology.

I’m especially interested in places that aren’t major tourist destinations, such as sites that may be less frequently visited or more locally known. I don’t mind traveling or hiking to reach them, and I’ll have a car so I can get around easily.

If you know of any historically interesting locations in your area that don’t get much attention, I’d really appreciate hearing about them. I’m hoping to explore some unique places that could also inspire research for my studies.

For example, in my father's village there is a temple and they built a church right on top. It's on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. I'm looking for places like that. I've been to all the big sites so I want to see the really unique stuff.

Thank you in advance!

What’s up with the E line going east towards little Tokyo?

I’ve been sitting at expo park for 30 minutes. The sign keeps changing the time when the next car is supposed to arrive. I had a similar problem when I was coming west from little Tokyo

I have the Nikkor 24-120 f4 lens on my Nikon D850. I’ll be taking it to get photographs of a bunch of art in museums. A friend recommended I pick up the sigma art but it seems like it’s kinda unnecessary. I’m taking these photos to use during lectures on art. I’m not trying to be artsy I’m just trying to get some good photos

I’m going to Greece this summer for a photography related project. My whole regular kit is for a Nikon d850 which is excellent for still images but awful for video and way too bulky to always carry around. I was just given a brand new xt-5 by a friend and now I need to get some lenses for it. I wanted to use the xt5 to film some nice video.

What lens would you suggest for a nostalgic cinematic feel? I’m looking for a prime lens in the 27-35 range. I was looking to get the 27mm Fuji one with the aperture ring if I can find it used. Seems like fujifilm stuff is hard to find used in my local area.

The last two times I’ve bought used online I’ve had horrible experiences with the shipping process.

So this summer I’ll be taking photos in really dark places. Museums, tombs, and caves. A big problem is that these locations don’t allow tripods or flash. The museums don’t allow monopods either.

I then thought perhaps using a gimbal and remote shutter would allow me to get great stills without the use of a tripod. Has anyone else tried this? There’s no reason why it wouldn’t work right?

I’m going on a research project this summer for an archaeological related study. My advisor thought it would be a great idea if I made a little documentary about my experience during the project.

My buddy is going to sell me his xt5. So now I need to buy a lens. I’m going to be filming mostly landscapes with some shots of me walking through the frame and doing some talking. Think Rick Steves.

I’ll be in Greece lugging around a bunch of other kit so I’d like to get away with one lens. I don’t have a very large budget either but I can stretch it if need be.

What lens should I be looking for? I’ll be going used so I’d like to keep an eye out now.

Thank you.

• Budget: $1500 body $400 lens
• Country: USA
• Condition: New
• Type of Camera: hybrid mirrorless
• Intended use: documentary
• If photography; what style: candid/travel
• If video what style: candid/travel
• What features do you absolutely need: image stabilization and good autofocus
• Portability: anything more portable than a dslr
• Cameras you're considering: Sony a6700
• Cameras you already have: Nikon D850
• Notes: N/A

I have recently gotten some grant money to do some photography work in Greece. Ill be taking my Nikon d850
to do some technical photography for an archaeological research project.

While I'm there, the advisor to my research project asked me to create a travel video documenting the journey. For this Id like to get a hybrid camera to record video as l've really liked what I've seen out there. I'm looking for something that will be great for video but will also be great for candid photography. This is less technical and more artistic. It’s going to be at least an hour over the whole video but I’ll be recording multiple locations so I’d like a good battery life.

This isn’t going to be shown at like film festivals or anything but it’s going to be put on the university department’s page and shown to other students at events.

i'm looking for something in the $1,500 range and I'd like to add on a single prime lens, I'm not looking to carry around a whole second kit. This is my personal money so I can't spend a crazy amount. What camera and lens would you recommend?

My Mac is not brining up anything when I plug my Nikon d850 into it. On applications it shows that the camera is connected but the problem is that nothing is showing up in the finder for my camera. I need to disconnect it from the Mac so that I can connect on the application. What's happening?
