Anybody attend the Tabletop RPG nights at the library? How are they?

To cut to the quick of it, I want to get out more and make new friends, and bars are basically a no-go for me.

That said, I love TTRPGs, and some of my best friends are people I met via D&D or other games similar to it. Also I like books and literature and stuff. So, naturally, I like the idea of TTRPG nights at the library as an opportunity to run one-shots, meet people, make new friends, hang out in the local book place, etc. But I'd like to know a bit more about what I am getting involved in before I give it a whirl.

So has anyone attended these TTRPG events at the library? What are they like? How are they generally organized? Anything a newcomer ought to know before strolling up?

Crows, Lions, and Little Dragons - Homebrew Ancestries from The Pale Ring

A ways back I did up some ancestries based on the sapient species from my book, and also based on the player characters from a D&D game I run set in the same world. Given how the magic system of said world works, I'm not sure it's a good fit for Daggerheart, but the ancestries might still be fun for other folks to use.

Obviously the Ry'thar and the kobolds could also be covered by the katori and the drakona from the phb, and the krauven are inspired by the kenku from D&D, but eh. There are distinctions.

The Inspiration Wheel - A Basic Tool For Getting The Creative Juices Flowing

First of all, I am not 100% certain if this really fits with the subreddit or if I used the correct, so apologies if I mucked up.

Getting to the point - and being completely upfront - if any of you are familiar with the TTRPG Heroes Against Darkness (HaD), then you will probably be familiar with this wheel, as its basically a recreation of a page from that book. But for those who don't know, which I suspect is most of you, HaD had a page in its core rulebook that was called the inspiration board - a 8x45 table of fantasy-themed words that you could use to get inspiration for adventures and quests or anything else. I found it to be a very handy tool, but it's a touch inconvenient in some respects, and I wanted a faster way of getting results from it.

So I did the ADHD thing and plugged every single word from that inspiration table into an online wheel spinner, plus a few words I added myself.

I find that with Daggerheart's collaborative storytelling and 'hold on gently' mentality, this sort of inspiration wheel can probably serve a lot of folks really well if you just need to bust out a basic concept for a one-shot or short campaign. I myself have already had great success with it spinning up a few one shots for my family to play. I figure I might as well share.

I find 3 to 4 spins is usually sufficient.

Here it be! May it bring you many adventures. :)

Redscale kobold, mystic, spiritual leader of her horde, mother to Minnove Ringdancer, and all around scary lady who was dealt a really, REALLY bad hand in life. But she's still up, kicking, and has a husband she adores dearly. Things are finally looking up for her, but she's still gonan hafta draw her enchanted chakrams from time to time.

Doug Dougle of Beast Feast

So, I have a question, and it's kind of a silly one, but in the Overview for Beast Feast (Page 271 of the Core Rulebook), the Halfling Mayor of Elmore is named Doug Dougle. By any chance, does anyone happen to know if this is a deliberate reference to Dougdoug? If so, that is hilarious and I want to give a high five to whoever had the idea.

If it isn't a deliberate reference, it is now, for if I ever run a Beast Feast game I'll make it so!

Kobold in a Coat - Art by Me

https://preview.redd.it/iqeu10x5wk2h1.png?width=550&format=png&auto=webp&s=b5a9fb58d48ad19c8f2bee7af02bb4905f5be046

This bit of art depicts a kobold bard and sorceress named Minnove Ringdancer from a D&D campaign I DM for. In our most recent session her gf bought her a winter coat because it is becoming winter, and Minnove was a little coldbold. Buut the coat was originally sized for a human, so it doesn't really fit. But it is warm. :)
