Career Advice Needed

Hi everyone,
I have a technical background and currently work as a Developer. I’m planning to pursue a Master’s degree in Australia and would really appreciate some advice on which field would be better for my career and future growth.

I’m currently considering:
Information Technology
Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML)
Computer Science

Since I already have development experience, which option would you recommend based on current technology trends, future career opportunities, and long-term growth?
I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have studied and are working in the Australian tech industry.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and experiences!

Hi everyone, I am looking for some realistic advice on how to address a career gap on my resume and during interviews.

My background: I worked for 2 years as a professional at a top-tier product multinational company (MNC). I worked as developer and automated testing.I left that role to look for a better position, higher growth, and a better salary package.
However, the job market has been incredibly tough, and my search has stretched out much longer than anticipated. I am now at the 1-year mark of unemployment. Despite my strong foundational experience at a well-known company, I am finding it difficult to land interviews or get past the initial screening phase.
For those who have successfully navigated this:
How do you explain a 1-year gap to recruiters without sounding like you were rejected by everyone else?
Should I explicitly state on my resume or cover letter that I was upskilling or selectively job-hunting?
Does having a top MNC on my resume lose its value the longer the gap grows?
I would love to hear from recruiters, hiring managers, or anyone who managed to land a great role after a long gap.
Thank you in advance for your insights!

Hi everyone

I am joining La Trobe University for the upcoming November 2026 intake. I am looking to connect with anyone else starting in the October/November cohort, as well as current students who are already on campus.
I am currently researching my living arrangements and would appreciate some realistic insights on housing. Specifically:
On-Campus vs. Off-Campus: Is it better to secure official La Trobe student accommodation early, or look for private student hostels/share-houses nearby?
Neighborhoods: Which nearby suburbs are the safest and most convenient for transit to the main campus?
Living Costs: What is the average weekly rent right now for a decent single room in a shared apartment?
If you are a current student or an incoming fresher dealing with the same timeline, please drop a comment or message me. Would love to get some guidance before I arrive.
Thanks!
