Moving help services?

So I'm going to be moving to Greenville in very early August, and I'll have some U-Haul moving pods with me. I have a couple of items that are a bit heavier, like a dresser and my mattress and the like, and I was thinking I might pay a service to help me move stuff in, I think I would only really need two people for 2 hours because it's really just the bigger items that I need help with and everything else I think I can get in on my own in one day.

Through u-haul, they estimate that for two people for 2 hours it would cost around $250. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with local moving services who might be able to do this sort of work and if there's any recommendations or if I should just go with the u-haul option?

Thanks for any tips anyone has!

Southgate apartment question

I was wondering if anyone who lives in Southgate can give me some advice on the units-- I'm torn between the two bedroom and the one bedroom layouts. It's really hard to find accurate numbers for the dimensions of the one bedroom layout and all of the numbers I've been getting from the matterport tours come out completely differently. I am fortunately can't see them in person before applying so I was hoping to ask a current tenant about the layout.

Applying for an apartment with two ESA cats?

Hi all!

So I have a letter from my primary care doctor that basically outlines my disabilities (ADHD, anxiety, and depression) and the ways my cats help manage those -- one cat wakes me from night terrors and assists my anxiety whereas my other cat is the one who keeps me on schedule.

I'm moving for school, and looking at apartments and I found the ideal fit-- they are already aware I have cats because I had to ask some questions about the apartment and mentioned it.

Now I'll be coming in as a grad student, so my income is technically $0, and my last job doesn't meet the 3x income requirements. HOWEVER, I have access to a special account (called a 529) that I can use to pay for my housing as long as it falls with the university's COA, which this unit will.

They've already stated that they will accept documentation of the account and the money in it (more than enough to cover a full year of rent).

However, while filling out my application, they ask if you have pets, and for each one if they are a support or service animal.

They already know I have cats (I've been talking with a specific person about the specific unit) so I can't say I don't have pets. However, because of my funky income situation, I'm scared I'll apply and they'll reject me but use that as justification, even though they've been saying it's fine so far. Will it cause trouble if I say no, they are not support, and then submit the letter after I've been approved? I'd really prefer to stay at this unit for the full 2 years but have to do 1 year leases.

Utilities for a 1 bed apartment?

I'm looking at a 1 bed 1 bath apartment at the Point at Wimbledon complex and I was hoping I could ask people about how much their utilities generally end up being each month in a one-bedroom apartment. I was also wondering if anyone has any experience with getting an internet plan if you have your own router/modem and don't need to rent the equipment. Where I live currently, I'm able to get a much cheaper plan since I have my own equipment.

I was also wondering if there are any current residents who I could ask a couple of questions-- on their advertisements on places like apartments.com they say that water and sewage is included in the cost of the rent but then they say that it is instead submetered and therefore not included. Does anyone have any idea what is correct?

I'd also love people's opinions on the apartments in general because the price that was quoted is a little bit higher than what they said it was on their website which has me a little bit confused but I really like the apartment.

Thank you all for whatever help you can provide!

I caramelized 2.6 lbs of onions and my only regret is not doubling that

To be fair, I only had about 3 lb of onions and needed to save one for later use. I ended up with about 0.58 lb in the end, so I'll definitely need to do this again because this is intended for burgers and breakfasts (also, last night I caramelized diced onion to put in garlic patties and it is AMAZING! It makes a restaurant quality burger) and I already know it's not gonna last.

I did this in the oven over the course of probably 3 hours? I initially had it set to 350° F, but since I was making garlic confit at the same time I lowered the temp to 300-325° after the first hour. They had some pepper, about 1/4 tsp of salt, and about 3 tablespoons of olive oil, though pretty much all of that was drained off at the end (and yes, the oil was saved for bread dipping).

I started with foil over it in the baking sheet for the first hour, but it seemed to be preventing the real caramelizing from happening so after that I removed the foil, and once they were soft enough I transferred to a baking dish and stirred them every 20-ish minutes. The second photo is from when I transferred them, that was probably about 2-2.5 hours in.

They are so perfect and the scrapings from the pan literally taste like pure onion flavored sugar in the best way possible.

I think this might be my magnum opus. My friends and family don't quite understand my joy so I had to come to the people who would.

I took the risk today and went up to Brainard Lake for cross country skiing and it was well worth it. I didn't see a lot of cars there and I had to break trail for the first bit of CMC despite getting a late start, but it was pretty awesome. It was a little sticky in the trees but that was mostly because I kept stopping to appreciate the landscape. I'm already planning on attempting more skiing tomorrow morning because I am optimistic enough about the conditions.

Just thought I'd put a post out there in case anyone was debating going! It's been a rough season so any last minute skiing is well appreciated by me and I thought I should let anyone else in the same boat as me know.

Turn the sound up for some kitty snores! This is how he likes to sleep every night right by my head. And yes, between him and his brother nosing me for cuddles I don't get much sleep but it is 100% worth it.
