Advice for safely rehoming my ball python? As my situation has changed very quickly and unexpectedly
I have to rehome my fire pinstripe ball python named Beetle due to highly unexpected financial/living situation changes, and I want to make sure he goes to the best home possible.
So far im requiring people to either have experience with reptiles, or have appropriately researched ball python care, have a reasonable price set for him to ensure funding is secure in his future, and it’s clearly stated that the reasoning for rehoming is due to me being unable to support his adult needs (like a proper 4x2x2 pvc enclosure), and I’m going to communicate to the best of my ability in order to ensure his new home either has or gets one for him.
Im thinking I’m also going to direct the new owner to the care group I used when I first got Beetle (the ball python subreddit) for modern care information, but I’m wondering if I could get any insight into red flags to watch out for from buyers or things to add to set him up for success.
As sad as I am I can’t keep him, I want him to thrive, and I just can’t do that for him right now with everything changing for me. If I cannot find a reasonable buyer I will attempt to surrender him to a reptile rescue, but I would prefer to know who he’s going to and that he’ll do well with them if possible.
Love the little guy, and please let me know if anyone has any insight or suggestions into doing this in a way that’s most beneficial him, I just don’t want to sell him to a shop or breeder, as I want to know he’ll transition to a new home in the least stressful way possible.
