Updating my software ruined my favorite thing about my Frame TV

I got a 2024 The Frame because it was the newest model that had the matte screen and compatibility with the auto rotating mount.

It worked great into the newest software update that installed the Vision AI companion that no one asked for. It used to be that a long press on the home button would rotate the mount. Now that's the AI shortcut.

I contacted tech support, who told me that they will never provide me with the old software so I can downgrade and that my tv was never compatible with the mount in the first place, so it's ok that they broke it.

I tried a factory reset, but the current firmware stays installed.

The entire reason I got this tv was for the mount (the best place in my room for a TV is between two windows, so the TV fits perfectly in portrait mode and then I can rotate it and partially block the windows when we are watching movies and TV).

Do not upgrade your software!

I have a longer rant in another post, but please be advised that you should not update the software in your TV.

You will be forced to endure an obnoxious new "AI companion" that is now installed in your TV. Also, if you had a rotating mount, it will stop working because the AI now took over the button push that rotated the mount.

Then, for good measure, a Samsung customer service rep will insist that your TV was actually never compatible with a rotating mount in the first place

AI broke my Samsung TV

My 2024 Samsung The Frame is on a rotating mount. Install was easy and it's been awesome. I keep it vertical when I'm not watching and then switch to landscape.

Long pressing the home button on the remote rotated the tv...until last night. Suddenly the long press opens some AI companion crap that wants to talk to me.

I can't even go to the AI vision companion settings, because you have to accept the license agreement to open the settings (WTF).

so, yeah. Now my TV won't rotate and an annoying AI wants to talk to me about my plans for the evening.

I've tried a re-pair with the mount, but the tv claims it can't find the mount anymore. So now I have to try and get the TV off (WHILE IN PORTRAIT MODE) and hold the reset button on the mount to hope that re-pair works.

Also, since I didn't know what this AI was, I tried turning off Bixby to get rid of it (since all the other AI crap is off in my menus), but now I can't use voice control at all and I can't turn it back on because it takes a week to delete Bixby.

I'm very annoyed. I will never allow sanding to send me a software update again

The exterior frames and sashes on my windows hadn't been painted since two owners ago. Paint flaking off and wood rotting...not good.

First I scraped and gouged and chipped and sanded to remove all the old paint layers and rip out as much of the rotten wood as possible. I also ripped out as much if the old caulk as I could.

Next I painted on some minwax wood hardener (def believe then when they say to use a disposable brush). Then, to fill in all the space where I ripped out rotten wood I used minwax wood putty. The first layer solidified faster than I expected and looked return, so I sanded it down and then did another layer with a putty knife and a little less of the catalyst. Finally, I sanded it all flat and then used an acrylic paintable caulk in all the gaps.

Onto painting: The top part of the window is actually a sheet of metal (steel?) that was flaking and rusted. I got as much crap off as I could, then spray painted it with rust-reformer. Then I did the whole thing with oil based primer from SW (oil based is supposed to soak into the wood). Def for external use, smells like it'll kill you. A day later I went over it again with the primer on any spots where it wasn't even. I let it cure for 4 or 5 days and then hit it with SW emerald rain refresh exterior latex paint (2 coats). I had brought in a chip of my old paint and they color matched. I think this is actually lighter, but I like it.

So, overall the most annoying part was getting to bare wood. Took at least 4 or 5 hours for this one little window using an IR paint stripper, scraping tools, an orbital sander and the sander head of an oscillating multi tool. Then it was about an hour and a half to tape up, caulk and prime. Under an hour for each latex coat.

So, that's the smallest window in my house done! Just 12 more!

I don't get it, is the democratic machine so disorganized?

Stanford is endorsed by outgoing congressman Dwight Evans, but Street is the "democratic machine" candidate. Seems like they should have figured this out behind the scenes and just picked one?

I don't really care since I'm voting for Rabb, but what is going on?
