Why so many people outside the Bell earlier?
Why were there a swarm of kids running around and in and out of the Bell Pub earlier? Couldn't work out what was going on!

I've been saving for many many years and finally bought a Victorian terrace by myself. But I feel like I compromised on too much and think I made a massive mistake. The house is so dark, the new fittings which looked great at the viewings are cheap and it's so different from my old bright flat which was in a better location. There is also a disabled autistic non-verbal adult neighbour next door who has meltdowns. I heard some noise during the viewings, but not the full meltdown and it's really intense, especially living by myself. I know it's not their fault but it's all too much and I can't stop crying with regret - I couldn't hear any neighbours in my old flat. I know some of this is moving stress and overwhelm at being ripped away from my old safe space, but I'm worried I've made a massive mistake and will never be able to sell this place. I signed for a 5 year mortgage fix so am stuck until then.
What happens once you send over the funds on completion day? I've had radio silence from estate agents and my solicitor lol and not sure what the process is
I'm looking for a white paint which will work well in both a north facing room and a south facing room for a Victorian terrace. Any ideas or will I have to paint them both different shades of white to counteract the different light?

The house I'm buying has disappeared from Rightmove and Zoopla because the sale has taken so bloody long lol. I've tried looking up archived sites but no luck in getting to it - anyone know how I can track it down?
I'm about to complete on a terrace in a few weeks and there's no major renovations needed other than painting (I think). The current owner has gone for some interesting (awful and bold) colours and feature walls so I'm going to have to paint everything. I'm buying it alone and always thought painting would be super easy and fun, but the more I research, the more it's freaking me out. I suspect it's stress/nerves from the whole thing and the fact that it's really happening now and it's all on me.
The house will be empty and I've got an overlap between my rental and moving so I'm going to use this to paint - if I don't do it then, I'll just end up leaving it for ages and it'll be harder once my stuff is in.
What do I need to know if I'm painting the whole house? What should I avoid? I'm sure I'll be fine once I'm in and am just projecting my stress about other things but would appreciate any practical tips to help it seem more manageable. :)
Edit - following excellent advice here, I'm going to cover the feature walls and lurid colours in white paint first - what is the difference between using a white primer and a white emulsion paint for this? Or are they the same thing?
I'm moving soon within the city after many years and am looking for a local man with a van to help. Think I'll need a small/medium sized van. Can anyone recommend someone?
Also bit of a silly question, but it's been a very, very long time since I've moved - do 'man with a van' moves help with loading and unloading boxes down or do you do this and they drive you to where you need to go?
Is there any clinics/places in town where I can get tested for STIs in person and not just be given a test to take away? I'd rather have a professional do it for me. TIA
I'm moving house next week and will need to change the locks in the house - does anyone have any recommendations? I've never done this before so would also be grateful for some guidance on what kind of price is reasonable for changing front and back doors! Thank you :)
I'm moving for the first time is years! How does it work with updating my council tax? Do I call the council or write to them? And how do I manage a council tax overlap between the new and old place?
I put 20k into VWRP earlier this year and had the option to transfer another 20k from another ISA into it so put it in as a lump sum. The plan is to leave it for 5 years and use it as retirement funds/pay off the mortgage. I'm panicking a bit I ought to have drip fed it in given how high the fund is at the moment. Nothing I can do now I know, but curious what others would have done.
FTB and I've got a month till I complete and alongside packing, I'm making a list of everything that needs to be done before and in the first few weeks - if anyone has any tips or can point anything I've I've missed/overlooked, I'd be massively grateful and hope it helps others in the same boat!
I'm on the hunt for a pair of women's swimming shorts with proper coverage and can only find bikini bottoms - anyone seen any in town lately? Thanks!
Can someone explain what this means for investing in stocks and shares? I'm new to investing in stocks and shares Isas, but have been enjoying it and wish I started earlier as part of my retirement plan/funds. I was planning on maxing my ISAs as much as I can with my savings each year, but I've just seen the announcement about being taxed 22% on interest. Does this mean any returns you make will be taxed at 22%? I think I might have misunderstood as surely this would put people off investing?
I'm just going through the legal contracts for my first purchase (ftb) and I've seen that I need a witness. My solicitor said I can sign everything online but I'm confused about the witness bit - do they need to be present in front of me and the solicitor and therefore signings need to take place in person?
If you're renting and buying, how are you managing the 2 month notice period that came in with the recent renters reform? I'm trying to extend the gap between exchange and completion to limit the financial costs of paying 2 lots of rent, mortgage, council tax and bills which adds up to quite a lot! Curious what others are thinking as I can imagine many people are in the same boat?
Bit random lol but anyone know where I can buy a wooden toilet stool in person in town? I mean the kind of wooden stool that you use to put your feet up and is meant to help you go to the toilet properly. I'd rather see if I can pick one in person than order it online if possible. TIA!
