Mail call and Half-Price Books with the steal of the year
As I’m still making my way through Snyder Batman Vol 1, I thought I was overdue a little splurge.
Also got Nocenti DD Vol 1 for half cover price at HPB.
GTA VI Trailer but it's unhinged (FlyingKitty)
m.youtube.comSo I started rewatching Daredevil…
and I just need more Matt in my life. I’ve only read Miller’s run, which was one of the most solid runs I’ve read. Currently Vol 1 of Ann Nocenti’s run and Vol 2 (I have Vol 1 already) of Zdarsky’s run are in the mail and I can’t wait to read those as well. I’m about halfway through S1 of the show and it’s just…absolute television to me. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are perfect casting. It’s gotten to a point where I hear Matt’s voice as Charlie’s.
Just read the first 2 single issues of Phillip’s current run and I’m interested to see where it goes. It’s got an intriguing conflict and the action is good. Haven’t read the epic collection yet, but I’ve been interested in the pre-Miller era of Matt. I’m not the biggest fan of Stan Lee, so I’m glad I was able to find one from the early 70s.
Is Vol 1 of the Detective Comics New 52 similar in quality to Snyder’s Batman run?
So I recently started Snyder’s New 52 run and I’m loving it so far. As Joker undergoes a fairly significant change in Detective Comics, I was wondering if it would be worth my time to get the omni for it.
I’m looking for a Marvel character that I haven’t been exposed to yet. I love the concept and design of Man-Thing, and the idea of Jessica Jones being a private investigator.
The only Man-Thing related…thing I’ve seen was the Werewolf By Night special which I enjoyed a lot. I’ve never seen Jessica Jones in anything.
Without spoiling things, which of these would you recommend?

Remembered this classic all of a sudden
Just finished watching The Resucuers Down Under and it was just so vibrant and beautiful to watch. Made me want to just pack my bags and move to Australia 🥹🥹🥹
So I hold Princess Mononoke in incredibly high regard. The script might as well be a holy text to me at this point. That being said, Jigo as a character has always perplexed me. What actual purpose to the story does he serves. Yesh I know he interacts with Ashitaka in the beginning, but it’s his role in the latter half of the movie that confuses me. He’s trying to get the head of the Forest Spirit for the emperor (whom we never see), and then he’s shown trying to intimidate Lady Eboshi before they go into the woods. So he’s an antagonist that feels kinda just tacked on. He doesn’t even get any sort of real comeuppance aside from not getting the head.
Am I missing something with his character? Is he just a mercenary who only looks out for himself?
What is Billy Bob Jigo’s purpose?
Been awhile since I updated this, but it was largely due to it taking so long for me to read through X-Men Vol 1. The book itself is certainly a good introduction to the characters, the biggest gripe I have was with Stan Lee’s writing. I’ve long held the belief that it would take Stan 3 to 5 business days to order from McDonalds, because good God man is there a lot of text. Even skipping the text boxes that explain what the art is showing and the characters are doing, it would still take me 30 minutes to read a single issue. You have some good storylines in here though, the introduction of Juggernaut and the Sentinels, but be prepared to read a lot. I’d give it like a 6.5-7 out of 10.
