The Gather Step Needs to Be Fixed
With the current rule, you could take ten quick steps while the ball is still spinning on your hand, catch the ball with both hands, and then take two more legal steps. That’s the loophole that needs to be fixed.
I know taking multiple steps while dribbling is allowed, but then they also allow you to gather the ball without another dribble. You can take ten steps, catch the ball, then still go one two, and it’s legal. I wish they’d change the rule so that if you take multiple steps while dribbling, your next move has to be bouncing the ball once.
I think the ball should bounce once in between, you can take thousands of steps(while the ball is on your hand spinning) catch the ball and go one two, which makes it so weird. It’s not complicated at all, actually easier than before and fans could also understand the use of the gather step (even if it “looks like” 3 steps).
CMV: The end of America’s role as global peacekeeper will return the world to a more historically normal era of conflict.
Human history for the past 5,000 years has been dominated by violence and war, making the current era of relative peace (from 1945 onwards) a rare “mutant” period in human existence.
Starting in 1945, the USA became the dominant global power and took on the role of global protector, ensuring world peace through initiatives like the Marshall Plan, maintaining global shipping lanes, and stationing troops worldwide
However, as of 2026, this stance has started to change. US is shifting toward an America First policy, and its response to conflicts in places like Ukraine and the Strait of Hormuz shows that it is becoming less willing to take responsibility for conflicts around the world. US no longer seems willing or able to bear the costs of being the world’s peacekeeper, which could mean a return to a more chaotic world similar to the one before 1945.
(Edit): Idk why some people think I’m American. Maybe it’s because I said the US was a global peacemaker, and they assume that because I said something positive about a country, I must be from that country?
Basketball Has So Much More Potential, but the NBA Is Limiting It
It’s frustrating that professional basketball is so heavily dominated by the NBA. Because of that, international competitions have relatively little significance. Basketball essentially has one league that truly matters the NBA while other professional leagues struggle to grow. Basketball has far more global potential, but the NBA’s monopoly limits its development. The NBA prioritizes its own business interests, which is understandable as a league, but it often comes at the expense of the sport’s global growth.
Basketball fans around the world mainly watch the NBA rather than support their own domestic leagues, so those leagues receive relatively little attention. It would be best if national teams were supported by the whole country, but in basketball, even many basketball fans don’t support their own national team. As a result, national team basketball feels weak. I also think Olympic basketball could become by far the sport’s most prestigious competition, while continental national team tournaments could become meaningful competitions in their own right.
Another problem is the lack of pro/rel. Because basketball is US sport, many leagues have been influenced by the NBA’s closed franchise model, just as many soccer leagues around the world were influenced by Europe’s pro/rel system. Pro/Rel helps build local identity, creates passionate and loyal fan bases, and gives lower division clubs meaningful goals because there is always something at stake. It also helps the sport’s popularity spread more broadly by giving more communities clubs they can support globally. If the NBA also lost its monopoly position, more fans would likely follow their own domestic leagues. Basketball may face an additional challenge because it is a low variance sport, meaning talent tends to have a greater influence on results. If wealthy teams were able to stockpile most of the top players, Pro/Rel could become less competitive, with far fewer upsets than in soccer. On the other hand Dynasties attract massive attention and boost a league’s popularity and viewership. If basketball had more meaningful competitions, one team winning the league every year wouldn’t matter much.
The NBA season also has too many regular season games. The league could shorten the schedule and introduce more meaningful competitions. However, because the NBA attracts almost all of the world’s top talent, tournaments involving clubs from other countries would usually be one sided(This could be changed if NBA loses its monopoly position tho).
Regional competitions, such as an Eastern and Western Championship, could become meaningful tournaments if the regular season were reduced. Rather than separating conferences during the regular season, every team could simply play each other twice, while the Eastern and Western Championships would exist as separate competitions. That would give fans more meaningful tournaments than something like the NBA Cup, which doesn’t seem like it would be a thing even in the future if you look at how nba cup works.
Overall, basketball is too fragmented and lacks a strong global structure. I know it’s unrealistic, but I believe the entire system would need to be rebuilt from the ground up for the sport to reach its full global potential.
If Meruem and the Royal Guards Survived and Reached the Dark Continent
If Meruem, Pitou, Pouf, and Youpi had survived and learned about the Dark Continent, their reactions would likely be very different. Meruem would be fascinated by a world beyond his understanding a place that could challenge him intellectually, reveal new forms of life, and perhaps contain beings or mysteries greater than anything found in the human world. Pitou would likely be the most excited, viewing the Dark Continent as an endless frontier filled with unknown creatures, ecosystems, and discoveries to explore. Pouf would be far less enthusiastic, seeing the continent’s chaos and unpredictability as a threat to the King’s safety, while Youpi would probably adapt the most naturally, embracing the challenge of confronting powerful and unfamiliar opponents.
Unlike humans, they would not be entering a completely foreign world. Chimera Ants are believed to originate from the DC making it in a sense their ancestral home. The Queens overwhelming instinct to create the strongest possible offspring culminating in a King like Meruem may itself be the result of evolution in an environment so harsh and dangerous that only the most exceptional lifeforms could thrive. From that perspective, Meruem and the Royal Guards may be far better suited to the Dark Continent than any human expedition.
They would also possess several advantages humans lack: extraordinary physical durability, immense adaptability, rapid evolution, and bodies capable of incorporating traits from other lifeforms. While human explorers must rely on preparation, technology, and caution simply to survive, Meruem and the Royal Guards could potentially adapt to many of the continent’s environmental and biological threats in ways humans never could.
This does not mean they would be invincible. The greatest dangers of the Dark Continent are not necessarily creatures that can be defeated through strength alone, but unknown diseases, Calamities, environmental hazards, and phenomena that may ignore raw power entirely. Even so, if there are characters in HxH capable of doing more than merely survive the DC, characters who could potentially live and adapt there naturally like Meruem and the Royal Guards would be among the strongest candidates.
The Dark Continent might be a terrifying frontier for humanity, but for Meruem, Pitou, Pouf, and Youpi, it could represent something very different: not an expedition into the unknown, but a return to the world their species was ultimately shaped by. The real mystery is not whether they were strong enough for the Dark Continent, but what kind of world could have driven the evolution of a species whose natural goal was to create a being like Meruem in the first place.
(Before meeting Komugi, Meruem might see the Dark Continent as a challenge, place to conquer, and a source of knowledge and power but After Komugi changed him, he’d likely become curious rather than imperialistic. He would probably want to understand the place rather than simply rule it.)
Netero probably created the 12 Zodiacs for the Dark Continent and intended Beyond and the Zodiacs to eventually work together
Netero may have selected the Zodiacs with the Dark Continent in mind, not because they were the 12 strongest fighters, but because they possessed the kinds of talents needed to survive and lead an expedition into an unknown and extremely dangerous world. The Dark Continent’s dangers are biological, environmental, political, and unknown. The Zodiacs possess a wide range of expertise, including individuals involved in medicine, intelligence gathering, investigation, governance, strategy, law, and combat (also doctor, disease specialist etc) rather than twelve pure fighters which resembles a well rounded exploration and survival team more than a group chosen purely for raw power. Since Netero had personally visited the Dark Continent and understood that its greatest threats were not always things that could be defeated through strength alone, it would make sense for him to value expertise, intelligence, and adaptability.
Netero never officially labeled Beyond as an enemy or ordered his elimination, he simply set a challenge.
Successfully explore the Dark Continent before his son does. Netero had a history of creating extreme challenges for himself and others to foster growth. He viewed conflict not as a burden, but as an opportunity for evolution. Netero intentionally placed Pariston Hill, his most troublesome subordinate, alongside Beyond. By doing so, he turned Beyond and Pariston into the ultimate "obstacle" for the Zodiacs, forcing the association to grow beyond their previous limits to survive and succeed.
And Drawing a parallel to the Chimera Ant arc, where Gon, Killua, Knuckle, and Shoot grew through rivalry before uniting to defeat the King, Netero is orchestrating a similar path. I think the Zodiacs and Beyond are intended to act as rivals to spur each other’s growth, ultimately converging into a “single team” to successfully explore the Dark Continent.
Compared to the real world 12 zodiacs and the Phantom Troupe would be something like
The Phantom Troupe is like a group of assassins or mafia members armed with guns and knives in the real world. The Zodiacs on the other hand seem more like masters of their respective fields, combat experts, military specialists, archaeologists who have also trained extensively in “martial arts”, and so on.
The Troupe is strong in human vs human conflicts, but when it comes to dealing with beasts, monsters, or other non human threats, the Hunter Association’s top combat oriented members seem better suited for the job. Their abilities also tend to be more versatile and adaptable for a wider range of situations.
Other than Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, I think Dwyane Wade is the only shooting guard arguably better than Manu Ginóbili. So his in top 4.
People will bring up James Harden, but if I had to choose one for my team, I’m taking Manu. If you’re bringing up Allen Iverson, he lost to Manu in the Olympics full with other nba players(Tim Duncan was a starter) on his team. I do not think Allen Iverson is leading that team to Olympic gold replacing manu.
Manu could absolutely lead a team. He was just unselfish and willing to sacrifice for winning.
He led Argentina to an Olympic gold medal as a “non American” player, which is the highest achievement you can earn in basketball. He also had a real argument for 2005 Finals MVP.
Imo that Olympic gold medal alone should put Manu Ginóbili in the top 5 shooting guards in the world all time. People might not put him top 5 among NBA shooting guards because international accomplishments usually aren’t valued that much in NBA all time rankings, and Manu sacrificed individual stats for winning, but worldwide I think he absolutely has an argument. Idk why his Olympic gold medal always gets ignored in usa.
