diagnosed with frozen shoulder last week. starting to feel depressed. when does this get better?

47 yo male and not exactly sure why i got it but i did. i used to do oly lifting in my early 40's and have a slight labral tear in my left shoulder so not sure if that contributed - dr said they don't know what caused it. the earliest i could start PT was 2 more weeks away but i've been trying exercises i've been finding online and trying all sorts of things to deal with the pain - voltaren, meloxicam, salonpas patches, using a tens unit. i feel like the really "sharp" pains are less common - maybe it's my body compensating by not moving in ways that would cause them.

any suggestions on how to keep my attitude positive? i'm getting depressed b/c i can't really work out (at least upper body) and losing muscle makes me feel self-conscious about my body. it sounds like i can try another cortisone shot in mid-sept (last one didn't do anything though). at what point can i even entertain the idea of surgery? i really just want this over with :(

would you rather...

be in a leadership role (e.g. senior director/vp) at a brand that isn't well-known or in a niche category or industry, or in a mid-level role at a company/brand that is nationally or globally known. let's say the pay is pretty comparable.

trialing out new aeron

started to notice that my legs were feeling tingly/jittery with my branch basic chair so decided to try out a HM aeron. i was deciding between that, the embody and steelcase gesture. i realized that we have gestures at work and while they were fine, i felt like they didn't offer the same support i was looking for. i also tried out the embody at the HM store and didn't like it as much as the aeron. i'm only on day 2 so looking to see how this feels after a full week of working. i feel like i've had aerons in a past job at some point so it definitely feels familiar. so far i'm really liking the lumbar support and cushy armrests and how smooth the back recline is.

wondering if i just need surgery at this point

long story short, diagnosed with labral tear 1.5 years ago that wasn't a slap or bankart and got cortisone injection in the joint along with pt that alleviated it completely. fast forward a few months ago the pain started coming back and i went in and got another shot in the joint. it's been 2 weeks now and the pain is still lingering/coming back. i just signed up for more pt but at this point should i just explore surgery?

i'm nearly 2 weeks completely off of trintellix. here's what i've noticed so far.

  1. way more energy. i found it hard to get out of bed and i would end up in bed as early as i could go while on the meds. i haven't been able to sleep well but also haven't gotten sleepy at night.

  2. definitely feeling emotions again. both positive and negative. there are times that i get angry. but i am feeling "joy" and being silly again. that was missing the whole time i was on ssris.

  3. sex drive is still not where it used to be. although in general i wasn't a super sexual person. but it does kind of feel like a chore with my partner, now husband. but maybe that isn't all because of the meds.

  4. while i do feel some slight anxiety at work again, it's not as bad as it used to be, and i was feeling some of it while on the meds too. i think it's just a matter of life i need to accept. corporate america is just inherently a stressful environment that triggers your natural fight or flight mode at times and maybe that's ok.

but overall, i'm kind of excited about coming off so far...hoping positive things continue. my husband says he is liking me more off the drugs than on.

▲ 1 r/HELOC

does it make sense to take out a heloc now just to have it or wait until after i refi? it sounds like i could most likely subordinate the heloc if i refi down the road. any messiness that i'm not considering? right now i have a 6.6% mortgage rate that i paid points on, so i'm not in a huge rush to refi, but am hoping to do so if/when rates drop to 5.5-5.75%. thanks.
