Which 'night shifter advice', do you not follow?

So I read somewhere that your bedroom should only be for sleeping.

Granted, if it's as dark as mine it can end up becoming a cave dwelling, and not somewhere you want to spend the majority of your waking hours!

But I can't seem to get out of the habit of stewing in my room, watching movies, TV, gaming etc. on my days off. Which I know might eventually end up contributing to poor mental health.

Are there any rules you don't follow, that you feel you should?

Question for those of us with boring jobs?

My job, for the most part, is pretty much making sure everyone stays asleep and alive.

So there's a LOT of downtime and it can be extremely boring and tedious.

I've had nights where I think, "it'd be great to have something to do!", but whenever I've had a job where I'm rushed off my feet, I quickly become overwhelmed, over stimulated, anxious and stressed.

So, much as I struggle with how dull it can be sometimes and the fact that I have to keep myself amused and occupied for the best part of 12 hours, I kinda realise how lucky I am to be able to sit here, play games, watch movies and get paid to do so.

Does anyone else count themselves lucky, or do you secretly wish your job was more involved?

These people have messed up my sleeping routine!

Okay let's not pretend that it was exactly sorted to begin with.

But yesterday I get a call from management, telling me there's training sessions on Monday and Tuesday morning. I am only working the Saturday night shift, but once I finish on Sunday at 8am, I have literally no idea how I am going to arrange my day, so as to be awake and alert for Monday morning.

Training days suck for us!!

What is this game called in your country?

Being a child of immigrants, I grew up knowing it as something different. So I'm intrigued what it's called in other countries!

UK night shift worker looking for US friend to chat to.

Hi all, I'm 42F based in the UK. I work nights alone (which can get super boring!)

Would love to find someone to message, text, call eventually once we're comfortable and hopefully become friends.

I'm into movies, TV shows, 90s R&B, travelling, comedy and good conversation.

Look forward to hearing from anyone this might appeal to. 😊

(Happy to hear from UK based night owls as well!)

How would you react to this?

So, I met a guy as friends (nothing related to dating).

He seemed kinda quiet and shy and I found this absolutely adorable.

We were texting sporadically. Then he says he wouldn't mind dating me because I'm beautiful. 12 year age gap... (I'm 43, he's 31) I immediately say no and he respected that.

We continue messaging as friends, again - sporadically. I tell him my thoughts about just having random hook ups to get away from my fear of intimacy, but said I wasn't too sure because I've been celibate almost 8 years. He responds respectfully and says I should do what works for me.

We continue talking - as friends.

I go through a massive dark patch mentally and physically. We talk several times a day, he asks if I'm okay and is very sweet, at one point I say you're cute and I'd probably date someone like you if I wasn't a whole mess right now.

He waits for me not to be a mess (2 months).

Pushes meeting a few times, saying he will drive to my place. I eventually agree to a video call.

I get prescribed SSRIs and start to fell a little better.

We go on a date. It's cute. We kiss in the cinema. He tells a few stories about how his friends think of him as a ladies man. I laugh it off. As we leave the cinema, he sees some girl he knows , doesn't introduce me and asks her, "you still single then?" I brush it off. He says, 'nah it's an African thing, she's my sis'.

He drives me home. We kiss again in the car outside my house. He slips his WHOLE hand into my bra. (I let it go.)

He texts me when I get in the house, that I made him horny and should 'help out'. I laugh it off and tell him to go to sleep.

48hrs later I tell him candour wasn't for me and I think we'll leave it as mates. I was shocked and a little freaked out by everything that happened.

He lectures me and then says, how he waited for me to get better and says ,"you don't know what you want".

I admit that I was confused by how you acted on the date and that made me feel steadfast on relationships only.

He says, "I offered you a relationship at one point. You said I was too young." (Exaggeration. He asked if we could date).

We never speak again.

I am worried I can't pass without my previous instructor?

He was trained in all aspects of neuro, he was calm. He was consistent.

I failed with few minors and 1 serious.

In all truth. Neither of us could believe it'd be that good, I went into the test shaking like I'd had 24 coffees!

I've never met someone so chill and a genuine TEACHER. 25 + years of lessons and this is the calmest and most confident I have been. I was excited to drive.

I failed and he retired. I have one more test. I NEED him for 10 more hours. I've begged and pleaded and now I'm kinda ashamed of myself.

Info: I have a new instructor. She's great but I miss the ease of previous lessons and my previous instructor. Also I'm 43, neuro and GAD.

I seem to encounter tons of guys who just want to discuss jumping into bed and all that it entails, after a few messages

My pictures don't suggest that, neither does my job or my interests. But I cannot seem to understand why it's every second guy?

Did you simply carry on as normal, doing a lesson a week, or did you switch it up?

I'm confused as to whether I should spread them out throughout the month or continue to do one a week, as it's getting very expensive and if I fail again... even more so!

I've been using my fan for the longest time, but now it doesn't feel loud enough.

I need something that's going to fully block out day time noise, any suggestions for ones that you have tried and tested?

I know this is probably a long shot, but I'm planning to start attending the Pure Gym on Westlode Street in Spalding.

I've never done well at the gym without a buddy, always helps to hold each other accountable for showing up and chasing goals!

I'm thinking to try for 3 evenings a week, anybody want to join me? Age and gender unimportant. 😊
