Pixel Cut Gems

I’m thinking about picking up a pixel cut sapphire from house of sylas, but before I committed to it, I got another pixel cut gemstone for reference to see if I like pixel cut stones or not.

While it’s not the same color or gemstone (green cubic zirconia), I’m actually not all that impressed by the pixel cut in this stone. Does anyone know if this is just a poorly cut gem, or are all pixel cuts more or less like this?

For reference, I’d be looking at a 10x8mm yellow sapphire if I got one from HoS.

Yellow Sapphire Pendant

Follow-up to a post I made earlier. I decided to get the piece for around 1400USD. It’s an 8.88 carat natural gold-ish sapphire set in 18k white gold. I sent the gem to GIA and it came back as beryllium diffused, which I was more or less expecting.

Do you think the price was reasonable for it? I think it looks fairly decent on a platinum chain.

As a side note, I noticed there’s a small chip in the middle of one of the facets. (You can see it in the first picture on the top right facet that’s reflecting a lot of light). It’s small enough that I don’t think I would notice it normally, but how easily could this be repaired/polished out?

Diamond Inclusions

I have a cross pendant with some blue diamonds set in the cross. It looks like there is some kind of fracture or inclusion in the bottom and right diamond. Are these typical inclusions, or could they be indications of more serious damage?

For reference, they feel completely smooth at the surface. Photos taken using phone camera + loupe.

Beryllium Treated Sapphire

I know beryllium diffusion lowers the value of a (yellow) sapphire by quite a lot, but by around how much are we talking? Is it still “worth” it over a synthetic stone?

Are beryllium sapphires worth setting in jewelry, or does the piece become more or less the price of gold?

Bent Pendant Setting

I found this second hand sapphire pendent set in 18K yellow gold, but the frame/setting seems kind of bent. Would this be fairly easily fixable by a jeweler, or would I need to have the setting redone?

Second-hand Yellow Sapphire

I found this golden yellow sapphire pendant for sale online and wanted to know if the asking price of about $1700USD is reasonable? The seller says they got it of an auction a while ago and have barely worn it.

The gem is supposedly rated by a lesser known Asian labs called Central Gem Laboratory in Japan. It’s an 8.88 carat natural golden sapphire that has been heat treated. The dimensions are about 10mm x 14mm x 7.7mm. The setting is 18K white gold.

Personally I’m not a fan of the white gold so if I get it I would want to have it reset in yellow gold.
Pictures aren’t the best but they’re what I have from the seller. Cheers.
