People who have been gaming since 2006 or earlier, how do you feel about gaming in general and how it's changed for you over the years?
I bring up that date because that was 20 years ago now. So people who have been gaming since then are old enough to have not only been born into gaming, but have kids of their own that they may be raising into gaming now.
For me, I've noticed I've stopped craving difficulty in games entirely and am even somewhat turned off by it. Instead I care not only for more story-driven stuff and games with greater world focus, but games where I get to make notable impacts in the world and lives of those around me on a more... basic... level. So something like helping a friend set up a shop or helping someone overcome depression and ending up marrying them appeal to me far more than 'DEFEAT THE TERRORIST FORCES!' type stuff. Heck, I remember playing Stanley Parable a few days ago and taking a keen interest in the employee lounge for no other reason than to wonder if the employees actually liked the lounge or not (if they ever existed at all). Compared to my teen self who would have been all about tackling some massive boss, would have refused to play a female character because 'that's gay', and such... No way would I have guessed I would effectively end up as the quiet kind who prefers hunting down 100 random doodads across the entire map (and prefers playing as female characters whenever possible for no other reason than because I like to), it's practically an entire 180. I'm now faaaar more prone to play Gas Station Simulator than something like CoD.
What about you guys? What changes have you noticed or habits you've seen change?
