I'm a catholic but I also stand with socialism, the workers movement, anti fascism, and leftist economic theory.

And I guess something I have been really confused about is why so many socialists are anti theist. Honestly I have a lot of atheist friends and I completely respect atheism, infact I believe that the ruling body of any nation should be atheist. Government and religion should stay separate.

But I have noticed a rising trend of socialists taking the next step and being outwardly against religion. Shouldn't religion be a private matter no matter what the class system is? And if not why?

I understand the argument of abolishing religion in a communist society, but could it not remain private?

Maybe this is a stupid question lol but I have never felt confident enough to this question on r/socialism or r/socialism101

I have faith in humanity

I believe that humans will one day choose to better the whole of the world rather than themselves

I believe that humans naturally desire to live in commune with each other but aren't able to because we believe that humans are greedy my nature and not by choice

I have faith in a better future for all, not just those who can afford it

Does a Christian still have faith that the son of God will return even though there has been no sign? Yes, because they believe in a future that is better than the present

I choose to have hope

I am a student and an employee and juggling these two things isn't fun as I'm sure many people know. However since I have gotten into Marxism I have noticed a significant increase in my quality of work.

I first started learning theory when I was at work and I would listen to audio recordings of theory when I would get the chance (and still do!). It's kinda hard to explain but listening to theory while I work has made my work ethic a lot better. I think it has something to do with knowing that my labor rightfully belongs to me even though I am selling it to someone else, when I keep that in mind, it makes me work a lot harder and take some pride in my work even if it may seem mundane or stressful. I think this is something that every one should think about when getting into Marxism for the first time.

Socialism rightfully belongs to the working class just as ones work rightfully belongs to the individual.

Anyways hope that made sense lol, felt like sharing that

How does Catholicism and communism contradict?

I'm a catholic and a socialist and I feel fully confident in both beliefs.

I just finished wage-labor and capital and I realized that here in the U.S. trying to live with socialist values is almost impossible. What are some day to day things I can do to avoid capitalism?

I know that I can't fully disconnect from capitalism in the U.S. but I know there must be some small things I can change in my life to avoid the further cycle of capital.

What I have read (in order)

• Communist manifesto
• Principals of communism
• The state and revolution
• The civil war in france

State and revolution has probably been my favorite so far but cant decide on what to read next.

• A couple I am considering:
• Reform or revolution
• Why socialism
• Gotha program/critique of gotha program
• What is to be done

What would you all recommend for me next?

i found this xbox emulator on my ps2 that was pre installed with the fmcb memory card. to my knowledge and research, xbox games should not be able to be played on a ps2. its called xbox 2 ps2, and i cant find it online. im downloading elder scrolls 3 right now on a usb and gonna see if it plays.

anyone ever heard of this emulator?

so i bought a ps3 a couple month ago and jail broke it almost immediately.... and im almost regretting it now. i found that im actually playing more ps2 games than ps3 games soooo im kinda feeling like i should have just bought a ps2.

im hoping i could get some ps3 game recomendations to build my physical collection.

my favorite ps3 games rn: fallout 3, fall out new vegas, heavy rain, skate 3

ive been really wanting to play god of war, ratchet and clank, and final fantasy xiii

my favorite ps2 games (for refrence maybe): silent hill2, shadow the hedgehog, and kingdom hearts

so i bought it from my cousin for like 300 dollars and it runs so much better than the family computer

specs (i think):

• intel core 2 duo
• 4gb ram (which is a lot i think??)
• some nvidia card idk it says 9800 on it

anyone know some good games to install?

EDIT: also does anyone know if keeping your computer on overnight damages it??? my mom says yes but i think shes wrong
