Scarletober Day One: Rot
Decided to draw Wayne for day one! It's a bit of a low-hanging fruit but it's pretty last-minute so I'm not ashamed haha
Here's hoping I have the time to even do half of these lol

For context, I'm not yet 18, so I still live with my mom (my parents are divorce so im with my dad every other weekend but that isn't really much, he's also Mormon he just cares less about my own beliefs) and I'm forced to go to church and participate in Mormon stuff and basically let it consume my life until I go fucking insane.
I've had feuds with my mom before about various things, but church outfits were never really the cause of the worst fights. My mom has always been pretty strict about clothing, but not intrusively so unless it was related to church.
Today I decided I was going to try something new and wear something a little different than usual. I borrowed some of my brothers' clothes and put together a nice outfit that I thought was "Sunday appropriate" enough for my mom. Here's a photo of the outfit, I'll add it to the post. (A few things: Yes, the tie is too long on purpose, purely for silly and whimsical reasons lol. Also, I'm short as hell, like 5'4"-another reason to curse my mother lol. I have the height and looks of a 10 year old but the mind of late-teenage girl)
As soon as I went downstairs, my mom yelled, "WHY" directly in my face like I was doing something wrong. She immediately started ranting about how completely inappropriate this was and that she was incredibly disappointed in me. During the car drive to church, we had a long argument, and it got to the point that I was sobbing in the backseat while demanding that she tell me why it was so important to her that I wear specifically a dress or skirt. Her answer was basically that women are traditionally expected to wear dresses and skirts and therefore it's my "Sunday best", and the outfit I was wearing was entirely inappropriate for church. Stupidest thing is, she *agreed* that the outfit I was wearing was nice, she was basically just embarrassed that I was wearing masculine clothing to church. She said a lot of things that were completely nonsensical and pretty fucked-up, but I've been typing this post for 40 minutes and I'm too tired for this.
I've basically been using this subreddit as a place to rant about stupid things in my life related to Mormonism for a while now. I need a proper place to vent my feelings, and I know it. But until the day I get that, this shall suffice I guess... even if it's something as trivial as my outfit for the day. I hope these posts are on-topic enough for this subreddit haha.
Thanks for reading.
(Edit: My mom has offered to let me wear pants to church if I go to church when I'm with my dad every other weekend. Oh. My. God.)
(Edit 2: Thank you all for the really sweet comments and eye-opening feedback! Although some of you disagree with my position here, it's always good to see other perspectives with these kinds of things, and I'm always open for discussion and feedback-*respectful* feedback! I'm glad this community is as kind and helpful as it is wise-for the most part don't quote me on that)
A couple doodles of Stubborn and Cold :)
skenches of my two favorite characters :)
its different than my usual scarlet hollow fanart so i gave a couple of people whiplash when i showed them for the first time haha
This one was a little more rushed haha, it was also the first time I've drawn blood but I think I did a decent job even if the colors look a little duller than on the original canvas.
Anyways, what would you do?
(Lmk if you want to know what happens next!!)
Another silly goober for you all, and it's even sillier than the others >:3c
We all know which one you'll choose, there's simply no avoiding it
What shall you do as a pathetic attempt to escape the almighty wrath of Gretchen the Bacon Consumer?
(p.s. some people in the discord seemed confused on what the one on the top left option meant, it just means to give her the bacon LOL)
No being nice to her anymore. You have made your choice.
What do you do?
(If you want to know what happens after lmk, but for this one most of them end pretty much the same way but worded differently haha)
Which do you choose? (Hint: Your answer may be the choice between life and death.)
... good luck
(p.s. i do have results for all of these options so lmk if you want the aftermath of your decision lol)
What a good boy <33
What would you choose??
Within the past year, I've had my first five or six panic attacks, all of which occurring right before I leave to go somewhere.
There's no real rhyme or reason to it other than that last statement, really. Oftentimes I do want to go to wherever it is I'm going, but I'm quite literally paralyzed with fear. At first it just feels like I'm about to cry, then I start hyperventilating and my chest starts aching. Then everything spills out and I'm curled up on the floor sobbing and struggling to breathe for no real reason. The best way to describe how I feel in those moments is afraid. I don't really know what I'm afraid of, but it's like my fight or flight was triggered from nothing.
I know I sound like a total spoiled brat when I say that I cry and throw a fit whenever I have to go somewhere, but I genuinely don't know what it is or what to do. A lot of people have told me it might be stress (my parents are currently in the middle of a very messy divorce right now, but I stopped caring about that literal years ago), but I don't feel any more stressed than usual.
I don't know. I just want it to stop. It's getting to a point where I can't even have a good time with family without ruining it because of a completely irrational and unexplainable fear that I have.

For context (I do this in every post lol), I still go to church because I'm not yet 18 and my parents refuse to accept that I don't believe in God (etc,. etc.).
Today was fifth Sunday, so all the Youth were taught the same lesson together. For some reason we were learning the lesson that was supposed to be for Independence Day, no idea why. At one point the class was discussing agency, and the guy teaching the lesson (a very stereotypical "man's man" kind of guy for context) points at me and says, "Like you, you're a female. Females like you don't have this amount of freedom in other countries, I've seen it firsthand. You are all so lucky to have so many rights and to be considered equals with men these days. You females should be grateful for that." (This is very much summarized, he went on a whole tirade about this for ages)
Yes. He really used the word *females*.
He could have meant well, but he's obviously oblivious, right? Like he doesn't know how women in the US are still often treated like shit and rampaging misogyny is still extremely prevalent in the Mormon church particularly? Like how we often *aren't* treated like equals and the *feminist* movement is what gave us the basic human rights we have today?
Sorry. This guy makes me mad.
Anyways, I really hope this guy gets educated a little bit on the women's suffrage movement before he points some other poor girl out and calls her exclusively a "female".
Urgh. This might be a long one.
(Just in case y'all are confused that this takes place at church with this being the ex-mo subreddit; I am ex-mormon, but I'm unfortunately not yet 18 and I have extremely stubborn parents. Bad mix)
My church has a prayer wall for the YM and YW to share. One day, I saw a little sticky note that said "trans rights" on it. I thought, "Aww, that's sweet. Nice to see that here." I don't know any trans individuals in the youth at my church, so I was hopeful that this particular ward wasn't super hostile towards the LGBTQ+ community (I'm bi myself so I appreciate those kinds of things).
Also, forgot to mention I live in the southeastern US. Just for context.
But the next Sunday, as I was walking into the YW's room I saw a couple of guys giggling in front of the prayer wall, so I went to go check it out.
What I heard went along the lines of this:
"Someone wrote 'trans rights' on the prayer wall. Trans? Aren't those guys like pedos or something?"
"Yeah, that's stupid. Who put that up?"
"Dunno, just take it down."
So I watched as they took it down and had the audacity to REPLACE it with a sticky that said "Jesus saves" on it.
Look. I don't have anything against them saying "Jesus saves" on the prayer board. Whatever. But it's so shitty to me that they felt the need to replace a perfectly valid prayer with their own shallow, regurgitated statement.
Anyways, after they left, I wrote another trans rights sticky note and put it back up, but I didn't take down the "Jesus saves" one because I didn't feel the need to stoop down to their level.
Next Sunday, it's gone.
At this point, in any other circumstance, I probably would have reported them for taking down that note down a second time. But this is a Mormon church in the southern US. I won't get any backing on that, except maybe from the one who put up the original note. No use.
This went back and forth for a while, me putting up "LGBTQ+ rights" and "trans rights" and them taking them down and replacing them with "Jesus saves" over and over again. I never took down a single one of theirs, so now the entire board is covered with stickies that aren't even prayers.
This still hasn't been resolved, and I don't think it will be for a while yet.
Anyways.
Obviously, I don't believe in God, and therefore I don't particularly believe in prayers. So why do I care so much? Because I'm sick of living in a toxic environment where people are treated like shit for nothing but for being themselves. It hurts to stand by and watch that happen in real time, and I do try to be as much as an advocate as possible for equality because I think there's value in trying to make all humans feel like *humans*.
Sorry for using this subreddit as a place to vent, but I thought this was (at least loosely) related to the topic here.
God, I hope this isn't counted as politics and taken down.
Also, it's fine if you don't support the LGBTQ, just please don't send hate comments under this post. They're just unnecessary and obnoxious, and you're not doing anyone any favors.
Thank you all for reading, and good timezones <3
(Just in case of any confusion as to why I'm at church, I'm an ex-mo who has told her parents she's not Mormon but is still forced to go :D yippee)
Anyways, while I was sitting in church today, this old man gets up on the stand and is basically sharing his sob story with the whole congregation, yada yada, so on and so on. But I caught this snippet while staring at the ceiling that genuinely caused me to break out with goosebumps.
"And our third child, well, he was rather sickly from a young age. He... although he is our son, we had to *choose* for him because he was born with both parts."
So I'm basically hearing that this guy and his wife contributed to the awful practice of altering intersex infant's genitals to fit the parents' and/or surgeons' narrow worldview of only male and female sexes. Damn.
Apparently that "son" died a few years later, from what the old man didn't specify, but the rest of his talk he was basically complaining about his kids who dropped out of BYU and married non-members and shit like that. The entire time I'm just resisting the urge to march up there and slap this man, like holy shit
Sorry if the grammar or formatting is off, I'm doing this in a hurry
No one can give me a straight answer to this. It's always seemed rather suspicious to me, and the fact that no Mormon has given me a straight answer to this only strengthens my disbelief that the Church actually gives a shit about women in the slightest.
Damn, I was breaking rules before I even realized I was breaking rules.
My sister and I were watching a movie with my mom Friday night, and the movie was one of those super cheesy Disney originals, you know the kind. All the characters were in couples because of course they were.
When out of nowhere my mom asked, "How old *are* they, anyways?"
I replied, "I think they're sophomores, I think it mentioned it earlier on."
My mom scrunched up her face and said, "They shouldn't be dating unless they're 16."
When my sister and I asked why, she continued to ramble on about the Youth guidebook and shit. I never read that thing, i could tell it was a complete waste of time after i read the first page.
And I realized, hey, I'd already had two boyfriends and a girlfriend before without even telling my mom (bc she's homophobic for obvious reasons) way before I turned 16. So I found that kind of funny.
So my closest friends and I love teasing the newest member of our friend group (let's call her S) about how gorgeous she is (it's a weird thing to tease her about, but you'd need to see the girl first, my god she looks like an angel). She's pretty shy and non-confrontational, so she usually just gets flustered and tried to change the subject or something. But one of my friends (they do go by they/them pronouns so that's how I'll refer to them as well as the nickname N) kept making weirder and weirder comments that sounded a lot like flirting. My straight friend and I started sneaking glances at each other whenever this happened, and S seemed rather uncomfortable each time, avoiding replying to N's "I love yous" and heartfelt compliments.
This past Friday, N was teasing S again about her looks, and S was, just as usual, shrugging it off with a flustered look on her face. But then N's face went serious for a moment and they looked S in the eye and said, "Uh... do you wanna like, go on a date with me or something? Or be my girlfriend?"
S stood there silently for a bit, and I could tell she was massively uncomfortable with the situation. I tried to catch her eye, but she wasn't looking at me in that moment. But (I believe because of her shy nature) she eventually agreed to be N's girlfriend, and they were ecstatic. Immediately they started showering S with gifts and holding hands and general things like that, which I don't necessarily have a problem with. It's just the fact that sometimes when N is looking away, S's smile will fade, and when S shoots me a small glance when N is talking with their other friends. It's always been hard for me to read her, but all of my "I'm uncomfortable but I'm too afraid to hurt anybody's feelings" alarms are going off all over the place. N has asked S if she felt pressured to say yes, and S said no, but of course she did. She's way too nice to tell them anything she might feel.
The event that made me want to make this post was today just before senior dismissal. As we were about to get in our cars to drive home, N lifted up S's hand and kissed her on the hand. I couldn't exactly read S's expression... I couldn't tell if she was flustered, scared, or possibly even just surprised. But I knew that N was going too far too fast. They've been officially dating for a grand total of 5 and a half days-not to mention S has shown very little enthusiasm for the relationship so far-and then N just goes and pulls a stunt like this. I don't know. Maybe I'm just being a salty little bitch because I'm now the only single one in our friend group now. I'm debating whether or not to pull S aside and genuinely ask her if she wants this, but I'm afraid I'll hurt her feelings if she genuinely does have feelings for N. I don't know. Anyone have any advice?
