Naltrexone and depression

If naltrexone blocks the endorphins from alcohol, wouldn’t it just block endorphins in general?

I’ve been taking naltrexone daily at 50mg for a month maybe. Before that, I was on 25mg for several months. I’ve noticed that I’m more depressed and anhedonic than usual. I derive no pleasure from things that were once my hobbies. But I still derive great pleasure from drinking, even though I follow the rules of taking it an hour or more beforehand. I think I got better at controlling my drinking, but it didn’t really change how alcohol made me feel.

Do you tell your mental healthcare providers that you are trans?

I am interested in seeing a psychiatrist and I am debating whether or not to disclose this sort of information. On one hand, being trans is somewhat relevant to my mental health. On the other hand, being trans has little relevance to my physical health and I should be treated like a cis man. How do you approach these situations?

How much do I need to save before pursuing top surgery?

I want to get top surgery ASAP, but I have some constraints. I am a student and my major requires me to move my arms. Taking time off during the semester is not an option, so I want to get surgery over summer break. The surgeon I plan to go with, Dr. Alison Shore, has long wait times. So I am not sure how long it is going to take to get a consult and the time between consult and surgery.

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Illinois health insurance. My insurance requires a referral from a qualified mental health professional. Which I don't have. And I know nothing about health insurance so I don't know how to even submit this information for approval. My deductible is $4,500. I currently have around half of that saved up. I have a low paying side job but I am looking for another. If my consult and surgery dates are in different years, I am going to have to pay so much more but I don't know if I will be able to avoid that. Do I need to have more than my deductible saved up before I start taking the steps towards surgery? How much money should I save up?

Help with anhedonia, fatigue, and hypersomnia

I am 20M and suffer from anhedonia, fatigue, and hypersomnia. I sleep 8-10 hours a day and struggle to get out of bed no matter how much sleep I get. I have one of those alarm apps that makes you complete tasks to turn it off and I still fall asleep after. No amount of sleep makes me feel rested at all. If I do anything outside of my usual routine, I get extremely tired and need to nap in the evenings. I'm still able to sleep at night after napping. My hobbies bring me minimal enjoyment and even things like video games require so much effort.

Possibly relevant information:

  • I lift weights 3 times a week.
  • I eat 1-2 healthy meals a day.
  • I rarely snack or eat sweets.
  • I currently take vitamin B12, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin K, and milk thistle.
  • I've had a sleep study done with no abnormalities.
  • Caffeine doesn't help me, it just makes me feel tired with tachycardia.
  • I take melatonin and doxylamine succinate sometimes, as I've been trying to go to bed earlier.

I am most interested in trying modafinil, but I was wondering if there are other things I should try first. Or maybe if I'm doing something wrong and need to change my routine.

Why don’t people know how to dress?

With the recent explosion of a particular sub, I’ve seen a huge increase in passing posts on my feed. They ask for advice and get mad or make excuses whenever people give it. Whatever. But I see a bunch of these people straight up in women’s clothing, wearing feminine styles/accessories, and not binding. Like broski DID YOU EVEN TRY IN THE FIRST PLACE. Like you CANNOT be for real.

Genuinely what the hell. Is it not common sense that you’re not going to pass as MALE when you’re wearing WOMEN’S clothes??? Especially when you’re pre T. I feel like I’m losing my mind

Family reunion: yay or nay?

My mom’s family is having a “family reunion” of sorts. Nobody likes each other and there are several people skipping it. I was originally one of these people. My mom blabbed to my grandparents that my plans during that time got canceled and they’re pressuring me to go. I’ve literally like never met any of these people and don’t want to. The only reason I’m reconsidering is because my grandparents are getting really old and are deteriorating a lot (might be why they’re doing all this). So I don’t know how much longer they’re gonna be around.

But only y’all can understand the reason why I don’t want to go. It’s because I’m trans. My grandparents aren’t necessarily transphobic, they just don’t get it. Although my other family members are genuinely transphobic. So I’m not called my real name or addressed properly. And it’s especially embarrassing in front of new people. These people probably know who I am but I don’t know them. And like I’m a full grown man, been on hormones for years which makes it even more awkward. Even if these people were accepting I wouldn’t want to meet them because being trans is fucking embarrassing.

I booked train ticket under the wrong name... Help

I got my name legally changed around two years ago. But you know, there's so many things you forget to update it with. One of those being my Amtrak account. 😐 When I booked my ticket, I had ALREADY put in my correct information for my ticket. I just signed into my account to earn points and it automatically changed it to the outdated information. But I didn't notice this until after I checked out. And now customer service calls are closed until tomorrow. I've read that Amtrak doesn't like to change names on the tickets and that you have to rebook. But that was in the case of a completely different person. So I'm not sure how the policy would differ for my case, especially because I can provide documentation.

I did also read that they don't usually ID you, but it may be a problem for a man like myself to have a ticket in a fuckass name. I could carry documentation of my name change with me in case they do ID me. But my train is in a week so I am concerned.
