My current setup is in a 10x10 wooden shed behind my house. I engrave challenge coins and other small custom items using fiber lasers and I’m slowly upgrading the space as the business grows.
Started small and just kept reinvesting into better equipment, organization, ventilation, lighting, etc. It’s honestly wild seeing how many businesses start in garages, sheds, spare bedrooms, or tiny workshops.
Curious how many people here started the same way and what your setup looks like now. I will share my setup. Post yours.
What was the first upgrade that made the biggest difference for your business? Mine was my EUFYMAKEUVE1.
Retired Navy Chief here names Chevo, I’ve been a lifelong challenge coin collector. I’ve been collecting coins throughout my 20-year Navy career and eventually started designing custom coins and engraving projects myself after retirement.
Here’s a look at my current display along with one of my personal retirement coins. I’ve always liked coins that tell a story instead of just throwing logos on metal. Rank, commands, deployments, heritage, inside jokes, milestones that’s the stuff that makes challenge coins special to me.
Looking forward to seeing everyone else’s collections and designs.
Been slowly building up my workshop after retiring from the Navy and turning my challenge coin hobby into a business.
I mainly design custom challenge coins, laser engrave metal, and recently started expanding into UV printing and other custom projects.
Still learning every day and upgrading the setup piece by piece, but it’s been awesome watching designs go from sketches and renders to finished products.
Here’s part of the setup and a few projects I’ve been working on lately.
