Sheaths on FGX Blades?

To those who own FGX blades, have you tried fashioning your own sheath for them?

I wanted to carry my Skean Dhu since it'll never rust, but I can't safely do it. I've been looking at improvising to make a poor man's kydex sheath out of an empty shampoo bottle. If you have ideas, please share them. Thanks!

XL Voyager Vaquero or Drop Point?

I've been in love with the XL Voyager series of CS, my first knife from the brand is the clip point and is still serving me well for 9 years and counting. I bought the XL tanto last year and was happy with it. I'm between the fence on getting the XL drop point or the vaquero for my next voyager. I know that Mr. Thompson famously loves the vaquero, but the drop point seems more practical to use. I just use my voyagers like oversized and overqualified EDC folders.

Which one would you pick?

Why do job recruiters love to send important emails during off-hours?

I've been unemployed for some time and have been actively searching for jobs. I've been getting interviews and exams in the past months and I'm noticing the disturbing trend that probably 60% of the time, job recruiters would often give email notices for a job interview during the night before the interview or exam.

In their defense, I'm not a chronically-online person and while I do understand that if you're a job seeker, you're at their mercy. Despite that, I just find it irritating. The worst that happened to me was I received an email on a saturday morning about an online examination on a sunday afternoon.

Again, whether my views are valid or not, I still find this practice by job recruiters to be as asshole move. If I ever find myself in the recruiter position, I would practice the utmost kindness and give applicants the most time to prepare.

Never Underestimate Heat Stress

I just went for my regular afternoon run today and this is the first time I saw a red datapoint on my running app. And to no surprise, it's about the heat. The Heat Strain Score was maxed out at 10. In comparison, previous runs were only at 7.5 to 8.5 in the same route, at the same time in other days of the year.

I'm from the Philippines and we're also suffering from this heat, with Danger-level heat index levels forecasted in several areas including Manila. The conditions during the run was a temp of 34 Celsius and a humidity of 60% and hardly any wind.

As the title says, never underestimate heat strain on your body. Enjoy the outdoors but stay safe. There's a limit on how much we can acclimate.

Getting Overwhelmed with Life's Problems

Life's problems just don't seem to end and don't know how to fall in line when they decide to come to our lives. I'm just at that point in life, surrounded by problems and getting overwhelmed, with my mind going to places I don't want it to take me.

I've been looking for a job for half a year and while I'm applying and getting noticed, there's still no job offer. Aside from that, I'm currently taking care of older relatives and the existential crisis of the fact that we'll all reach the end of the line just eats away at me. I'm just not in a good place in life right now. I know everybody has problems they find difficult, but this stretch gave me suicidal thoughts for the first time. For now, I'm still holding onto hope that I'll get better, get a job and be stable.

If you're going through a tough time in your life, I pray that you may pull through it and seek help if you need it. If you know somebody going through a rough patch, please be kind to them. A tiny gesture of kindness means a lot.

How do you cope when life's problems becomes overwhelming? And how can you help somebody during hard times?
