Would really appreciate help. Left hand tremors I’ve noticed recently. I’ve also had muscle fasciculations for the past 2-3 months. Wtf is wrong with me?

My muscle fasciculations originally started in my triceps back in February, but went away after 2 or 3 days. On March 25th, I had a cramp in my right calve for the first time ever. On April 1, I began experiencing VIOLENT AND AGGRESSIVE twitching in my right thigh, which then spread to my left thigh in the same day.

I also noticed my left hand tremoring around April 8th.

After 2 days, the twitching became less violent. Around April 4th, the twitching spread from my thighs, to my calves. Around April 20th, it spread from my calves to my forearms and knees. The twitches, overtime, became less frequent.

Eventually, the twitches became widespread across my body except my face and tongue. (For now, anyway)

Fast forward to today, I still get occasional widespread twitching, but it is now mostly in my right knee. The twitches are not very frequent now, but still there.

So I have no idea wtf is happening to me? Has ANYONE experienced what I’ve experienced at all? Is it MS, Parkinson’s, or ALS? This is stressing me the hell out. (29, male)

Insurance won’t cover EMG or MRI, so I’m left with this community’s honest opinion on my symptoms:

Late February - Some tricep twitching, it went away after about 3 days.

March 25 - Had a cramp for the first time ever, specifically after standing on my toes and reaching for something. Went away after about 2-3 days.

April 1 - Twitching began violently and aggressively in my right thigh, then migrated to my left thigh in the same day. Extremely aggressive twitching. Mostly at rest.

April 4 - Twitching started migrating to other parts of my body. Glutes, biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, abs, obliques, forearms, calves.

April 15 - Twitching became more prominent in my calves.

April 20 - Whenever I laid down and tried to sleep, I noticed pins and needles/tingling in my right foot, my right shin, my right knee, and it’ll alternate between my two hands. This went away after 7 hours of sleep.

April 24 - Frequent twitching moved from my calves, to my forearms and knees.

May 5 - Muscle twitches have now become very infrequent. Still there, but just not as often. Maybe 1-2 twitches every 2-5 minutes.

May 16th - Now noticing twitching hotspot moved to my right knee.

No muscle weakness, but waiting another agonizing 6 months just to “be in the clear” of *** is certainly not fun. Anyone’s experience or opinion would help me out tremendously. I’m 29, male.

Insurance won’t cover MRI or EMG, so I’m left tracking my symptoms and hoping for the best. 2-3 months in so far.

February (dont know date) - Triceps began twitching. Went away after 2 days.

March 25 - Right calve cramped as I was standing on my tip toes trying to reach for something. Cramp lasted for 2-3 days.

April 1 - Violent, aggressive, and constant right thigh twitches began. Mostly aggressive at rest. Migrated to my left thigh in the same day. The aggressive twitching stopped after 1-2 days of rest.

Mid April - Got tingling and pins/needles sensation in my left calf/foot/knee. Went away after 7-8 hours. Muscle fasciculations began spreading…to my biceps, triceps, back, calves, forearms, knees, even my glutes.

April 30 - Muscle fasciculations began becoming more and more infrequent. I still get them daily, but it’s just more infrequent and less of a nuisance now.

May 16 - My right hand (specifically, near my thumb) began fasciculations for the first time.

I’m glad the muscle fasciculations became less frequent overtime, but that fear of something serious is still there in the back of my mind. Honestly, it really sucks how without an EMG or MRI, the best I can do is just wait anxiously. I always think to myself: “Will I get muscle weakness next month? 4 months from now?” That sense of impending doom just sucks.

I need to vent. “If you have no muscle weakness, you’re good!” is so goddamn misleading and dishonest.

The issue is time and waiting.

How the hell can someone just say “if you have no muscle weakness, you’re good!” like you’ll just magically be okay if you CURRENTLY have no weakness? At what point can someone safely rule out ALS since the initial first symptom? 4 weeks? 8 weeks? 16 weeks? 2 years?

How does someone who can’t afford an EMG know they won’t have muscle weakness weeks or months from now? The quoted statement in my title is so infuriatingly misleading, Jesus man.

Someone could have 0 muscle weakness at 2 months and suddenly begin having it at 4 months in. And then bam, delayed depression.

Just needed to vent. It’s been 60 days since my tricep twitched, 45 days since my calve cramped, and 20 days since I have widespread random muscle twitching. Daily. It’s quite infrequent though. (Neck, forearms, calves, quads, ankles, foot, abs, obliques, even my ass. Cramping isn’t daily though.)

Comment below if you’re in the same boat and just want to escape this nightmare of constant anxiety.
