First Time At The Range. A Few Questions.
I spent the day at the range dialing my new rifle and scope in, testing out different ammo, and enjoying being only one of three people to show up in 6 hours. Positive takeaways: awesome gun, fun to shoot, more accurate than I am. 400+ rounds, and ZERO misfires, although there were some overloaded and under-loaded rounds-welcome to .22lr life. Surprise: Federal Champion was surprisingly uniform and accurate and close to CCI SV, although it hit higher than the CCI, by about an inch and a 1/4. Negatives: I fully despise the scope. I also need a bipod. Locally, we have a piss poor selection of ammo types.
Questions: The scope is a 15x50 Zero-Tech Thrive HD. I got it new, and it was also free. It's nice and clear, and holds zero. However, it's damn near reticle free. Just a couple of spaces in the crosshairs for windage, and other than 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, MOA for hold over, it goes in 5 moa increments. I'm sighted in at 50 yards, which is fine, but trying to find aim at 100 yards with a cross wind today using SV ammo was less than accurate. What is a clear, accurate scope you're using that's under 1k? I like the 15x50, but I'm rough guessing elevation, and using Kentucky Windage with this thing.
Second, any preferences on an adjustable bipod for the 457 AT1?
Third, who's a good online ammo dealer with a decent, in-stock selection of 22lr brands? I see different positive results here for brands no one in my state even carries like SK, Lapua, Norma, even Federal Gold Medal.
Thank you for any suggestions.
