Mini Splits for Bedrooms
I have two identical sized bedrooms (12' x 12') that are next to each other. I'm interested in installing mini splits for these bedrooms, but seems like I can't quite find a good write-up of how to proceed. Using an online calculator, each room will have a cooling load of 3,600-3,900 BTUs. Seems like the smallest units are 9,000 BTUs. Multi-head units seem to be viewed poorly from what I can tell, so not sure if it makes sense to do 2 units where each unit would be so much bigger than needed... The two bedrooms share a wall (well, mirrored closets) so using a single unit between the two would work well in terms of spacing outside.
House was built in the 1950s with a boiler/baseboard heating, so no existing ducts for central air. The house has one mini split for the master bedroom, and it's about 15 years old now (Mitsubishi) so it might be time to replace that one as well, not sure if would make sense to upgrade that to a double and run a head to one of the bedrooms...
