EQ Cutting and Boosting?

When doing EQ work, I usually just go by ear for where I want to cut or boost (I also use charts off of the internet to know where) but I am wondering if there is a "Science" or "Method" of knowing how much to cut or boost? Like oh, I need to cut around 2k hz, but how many db's do i take it? How sharp is the "bell notch"? Again, I usually go by ear, but I am wondering if there is a "When in doubt" kind of solution of knowing how to do this?

Casting Call Club

Is there money to be made on Casting Call Club?

Not to sound like a newbie, but I've heard more about this website than many others, and don't know if this is something to look into or not.

Locomotive Piston Broken

So, I bought this HO steam locomotive a couple years back because I love this model. I bought it used and it came in with a broken piston connector thing (idk, im a very casual enthusiast) both the plastic pole and the metal one is broken... is there any way to fix this? The train works fine other than that the piston rod falls into the tracks and stops it from moving. (The last image is its good side)

Questions from a Noobie

I haven't even begun to make a garden railroad, but i have a few questions.

Are the tracks electric like indoor model trains, or do the locomotives have their own power source and controls?

Where does one purchase such trains and tracks? (I live in the U.S.)

Any advice on where to "not go wrong" in building my first garden railway?

Burning Mp3 Cds

Idk if this is the right place to ask, but here i am😅

I have been collecting CDs, ripping them, and burning them for a while... ive always loved "physical" media. And i recently discovered the concept of "Mp3 Cds" and am in love with them, especially since my car can already support them, along with my home set up. But something that just annoys me, personally is that my car won't display the "author" "composer" "artist" or even the "album" name. Now I am not expecting it to display ALL the information, its an old radio, I know it can't. But I wish it would say something other than "Root" whatever that is. I've never seen this on my regular burned CDs.

Can anyone who knows Mp3 CD's help me?

Cassette Player

I recently found my old Cassette tape collection and was hoping for some advice regarding the purchase of a player. I remember a few years back getting a tape player that was "Newer" and it worked well, until it pulled the tape out and mangled my cassette up... is there a way to know if a player would "ruin" a cassette, or a way of preventing it in whatever player I buy?

Thank you for any advice regarding this

Question about cd titles?

I dont know if this is the right place to ask, if so i will remove the post.

I've purchased a few cds, listened to some from the library, borrowed, ripped, etc. but i keep coming across cds where the titles for the songs are either non-existent or just "track 1" "track 2" and not often the actual title, let alone having the artists name in the song. I've been finding this on a lot of modern cds. I know how to check the difference between burned and pressed cds and these dont seem to be burned copies, so... Why is this?

This is probably going to sound like a "newbie" question, but... If you had to start over, how would you do it?

The reason I ask is just that I have seen soooo many different people talk about how they started, and each way is different. Some people made connections early on, some hired agents, some paid teachers that promise them the world. If you only had the bare necessities in equipment, what would you do?

Honestly, I have the equipment, I have a little bit of experience having worked on a few indie projects and even ads in my local radio station... But I want more, I want more work, I want to dive into this industry. I don't have much money, but am saving. And while I do, I am learning everything I can, so I ask again... If you had to start over, how would you do It?

P.S. I'm even open to just hearing your story on start'em

Is this still worth anything to Xbox players?

I play Nintendo and Playstation. In a purchase I made this came with, and the original owner doesn't want it back. The flair is probably wrong, but I am just wondering if this thing is even still used (worth selling) or is it just a collectors item that is probably trash?
