One day in Anchorage

I have one day and night in Anchorage before my cruise. Is all this possible?

Arrive at ANC 11 am. Pick up rental car. Grab a bite. Visit Alaska Native Heritage Center. Drive out to Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Check in to downtown hotel. Walk downtown. Souvenir shop. Eat dinner (seafood).

Next day, leave Anchorage 8:30 am. Drive to Whittier and drop off rental at 11 am. Board ship.

Any tips, suggestions or advice is appreciated.

Stateroom Service

If I decide to sleep in one morning and take my time getting ready. Do I have to be out of my State room by a certain time for service to make up my room? Can I deny the service? What about turn down service? What time is room cleaning and turndown service and are these mandatory? Someone told me before you cannot deny the service?

Juneau Port

Will I have time to hike around Mendenhall Glacier (Nugget Falls), see state capital, eat crab, and tour Sealaska Heritage Center, drink a Duck Fart and shop?

Packing assistance

Going on cruise from Whittier to Vancouver in June. We have a Oceanview stateroom on the Grand Princess. What will we need to pack to be comfortable in our stateroom? Things suggested to us so far are magnetic hooks, power strip, Clorox wipes, etc. What else would we need?

For my outdoor gear I usually purchase The North Face, Osprey,Columbia, or Patagonia. I recently purchased some REI gear in the form of hiking pants and a 42 L backpack. Well the backpack mesh already ripped and the hiking pants seem so flimsy. Is this normal for REI products? Should I just spend the extra money to buy higher-quality products as I have been instead of trying to save money by buying REI stuff?

I’m new to Alaska Airlines and I’m having a very long layover in Seattle arriving at 5:30 PM and departing the next day at 7 AM to Alaska. I have a question. Will my check-in luggage be transferred to my next flight or do I need to pick it up? Also, my reservations are premium class. What can I expect on two, 3 hour plus flights? I am getting a hotel room and plan to go downtown to see a couple sites. I will have a carry-on overnight bag. My hotel is next to the airport, but I am thinking of getting a hotel downtown doable?
