For those struggling to make an alumni account!

I found this vid on the IB website showing you how to make an alumni account. You apparently have to put _code next to your first name and last name.

Go to Help Topics on the IB page and search 'alumni account creation' in keywords to find the vid.

I haven't tried this as my attempt to register has been locked cause I did it wrong too many times before finding this and if anyone knows how long it'll take before I can try again pls let me know lol.

Is AUD the same as AUS?

I haven't really heard much about AUD. I know AUS is rlly reputable and one of the top three in the country but is AUD the same kind of Uni, but just in Dubai?

Like I genuinely never heard ppl speak about it ? How is it as a Uni, I've only heard that education wise it's rlly lax.

My Sister's Literally So Irritating

For context, I'm the youngest of three. My sister's the oldest (by 7yrs), then my brother, then me. I'm 18yrs old and due to circumstances, my Dad and my two siblings live in one country while me and my mom live in another. Anyways, we still see each other a lot in the yr during every holiday.

Rn we are visiting during summer break and my sis and I share a room. I miss my own room so badly. First, she ALWAYS smokes her iqos, which genuinely stinks like farts, AT NIGHT, WHEN IM TRYING TO SLEEP, RELAX ETC. and bc she's not meant to be she tries to hide the smell from my parents by spraying hella perfume everywhere so either way I actually feel suffocated. Second, 70% of the time at night she's calling her friends, sending voice notes so loudly and it's infuriating. And even when I tell her to lower her voice she just doesn't gaf. Third, we sleep with a nightlight that has a warm or white mode. I want warm bc the white is so sterile-feeling and SO bright. Ofc, she wants the white mode bc "warm gives her a headache" and ofc it has to be her way bc for some reason she makes it seem like I'M crazy.

Outside of this, she constantly wears my clothes, jewellery, shoes, and I genuinely have no problem with this. My problem is she is careless and unthoughtful, and she just tosses my clothes back into her wardrobe, or at times she's purposely hid things/taken things she wanted to keep. This is so enraging BC I end up leaving the country with like half my shit just gone bc "she doesn't know where it is". This time I've literally locked my suitcase so ik whats going on/out.

Now this might seem rlly weird but as sisters there's not too much that's tmi ig and it's not like I feel creeped by this, but more just like my privacy is invaded. When I'm in the bathroom, WITH THE DOOR CLOSED, she would just open it. I could be on the toilet and she'll just come in to do whatever at the sink OR EVEN WORSE just wait in the bathroom for me to get off the toilet AND SMOKE bc "she doesn't like pooing in the other bathroom". Like how about you wait for me to leave like a normal person would????

Overall, these things she does are the most frustrating to me because I show her respect. I don't do this shit to her bc I'm not careless and thoughtless she is. And I'm mad that she does everything according to what she wants but doesn't respect me/ my boundaries. I've confronted her before but she doesn't give a shit. Like I don't do anything that inconveniences her but she does all this shit and I have to deal with it? Make it make sense.

I just want her to listen to me and actually respect me. Im sick of just having to put up with her esp because we stay for such long periods here.

Record Noob Seeking Guidance

So I'm a complete noob when it comes to this vinyl/ record player stuff but I do want to get into it. The issue is I'm 18yrs old and I don't got money like that. And what I've learnt from the little research I've done is that if you want good sound, external speakers are preferred and suit case players are a no no.

So I've been debating whether to just get a cheap setup anyway or if I should just build my vinyl collection and invest in a genuinely good setup a few years down the line. It's just so annoying bc it feels pointless to collect a vinyl and have it sit there doing nothing lmao.

For context I live in the UAE and an ideally affordable choice would be 500dhs. Also, any thoughts on used players, as I've found people selling some online.

Uni Of Sharjah Students - advice!

So I've applied to the AUS Environmental Sciences program. Wasn't eligible for a merit scholarship and got a 15% financial grant. Can anyone tell me if the university gives merit or GPA-based scholarships as a continuing student? Also, is it common for financial grants to increase as you renew?

Lastly, is it worth it? I've heard things about Student Life like that it isn't great making friends and that the Uni is too big. My parents only have enough money for my first year given the financial situation, so I was looking at other more affordable unis like UOWD and RIT, particularly in marketing.

Just wanna know if with some hard work I could get at least 50% off as a continuing student in AUS. I've seen other scholarships on their website but they're vague, and most are applicable to one semester.

Is it worth the risk or am I better off with RIT or UOWD? The biggest thing I'm worried about is not being able to find a job with a degrees from these UNIs, as am most likely remaining in the UAE.

Uni Crisis!!??

So I applied to environmental science and sustainability in AUS, fairly certain that I wanna do this program, thinking I would get a decent financial grant/merit scholarship bc I rlly need it. Got 15% aid and no merit with my admissions letter??

I applied early too and my GCSE grades were all As two A* and two Bs. My year 12 predicted IB points were 36, Year 13 was 38 (not outstanding but not horrendous). I genuinely don't understand how they calculate the percentage for these grades BC on their website in order to qualify for merit you need a 95% or above, so are my grades that bad??

Now I'm tweaking BC my dad genuinely cannot afford this uni, I was looking at other (affordable) options like RIT and UOWD but they don't have any courses like this one. The next best thing is anything media related but is that worth it??? I have 0% knowledge in anything not science related so I'm afraid of doing something else, I was also intrigued by computer science but I'm an absolute noob and coding sounds like hell to me.

This is the issue, I have no idea what to do and no idea what I would wanna do.

Was the IB worth it?

I'd like to know how others who finished the IB program have found it to be? Because honestly for me, it definitely was not worth it.

I graduated this year and I've seen and heard all the IB glaze and how it encourages critical thinking and teaches you new skills and blah blah blah.

I think it's some BS, you can certainly grow and gain skills as a student and person without doing the IB.

I haven't started UNI yet but I also don't see how it would even make my uni life easier like some claim, like I've already forgotten all the content I learnt.

The IB for me was hella unnecessary stress for no reason, and if you need a lot of financial support like I do, the only way to guarantee it is by getting 40+, which I didn't get.

So even though I was predicted a 38 Im going to a still good but less reputable uni than my classmates with 32-36 points because they have the money and I don't.

American University of Sharjah financial aid

So I've applied for financial aid pretty late (still before the deadline) because life has been hectic and time flies past.

They are still asking me to submit documents and they take like a week to ask.

My issue is bc I've applied so last second and they r still asking for stuff, is my chance of getting a good discount rlly slim or am I fine.

Does anyone know how the funding amount works or the applications work, is it on a rolling basis or do they process everyones at the same time after the deadline. First come first serve? Or priority given to those who need it the most?

Pls only reply if it's good, I CANT TAKE BAD NEWS RN.

Tailor Shop Specialising in Beaded Work??

Does ANYONE know a shop that specialises in heavily beaded work.

I got a beaded dress with many loose threads everywhere and chunks of sequins missing. I went to a mall near me that just has tailor shops and not one was willing to work on it.

Patching the empty areas would be nice but atp I just want someone to at least tie the loose threads so the sequins stop falling.

There's a dress layer then a tool like layer above it with all the sequins work.
