What are considered some of the biggest plot twists in 2000's to 2010's live action Disney channel shows that changed the trajectory of the show going forward? Equally, what was a plot twist that happened in an episode of a show that should've changed the trajectory of the show but had minimal effect on the rest of the show?
I know in more recent years girls are seeming to stay longer on the squad (eg: 4-6 years) but during the MTT era, which rookie class had the shortest tenure overall. Which rookie class had all the girls retired/cut from the squad by their 1st-3rd year on the squad? (can also be pre-MTT like the early 2000's)
I don't know if it was heresay or whether this is actually true but I remember hearing that TPTB were considering Bridget (S13 rookie) for point in her second year but it didn't happen because some of the upper vets found out and got upset so TPTB chickened out and gave it to Amy/Maddie instead. But my question is, do you guys think TPTB should've just told the upper vets to suck it up and let Bridget be point anyways? I would've loved if Bridget was point, it would've set the precedent that they set earlier in MTT that tenure doesn't mean automatics, it also might've made some of the girls who were seen as ''blenders'' work a little harder and become complacent and that some of the newer members of the squad are talented enough and had what it took at the time to get point.
I've seen some reviews for CR3 talking about how people are disspointed in the reboots/sequels of classic DCOMS/Disney channel shows (HSMTMTS, CR3, WBWP) breaking up main couples from the OG series/movies. For me, I think it makes sense that a lot of the couples didn't end up together. Especially a couple like Mitchie and Shane, realitically between CR1 and CR2 they'd only known each other for about year and didn't really seem to have seen each other/kept in touch all that much between the year between CR1 and CR2, especially given the fact that they were teenagers in CR1 & 2, and them hinting that Mitchie became famous not long after CR2. It makes sense to me that with Mitchie inevitably dealing with newfound fame and Connect 3 touring and being busy themselves that Mitchie and Shane realised that they didn't have time to be couple and were better off as friends folllowing CR2.
Realistically, unless they want to become like MTT eventually, AS can't really have that much longer of a lifespan left in it, can it? Especially since they seem to go over the same patterns every season, I could see them pushing for a season 5 then quietly cancelling the show to stop it from becoming repetitive and stale. Don't get me wrong I loved seeing more of the season and more behind the scenes of the girls than was on MTT but I get the sense that AS has short life span.
Just a question from the top of my head, but does anybody remember or know what Judy and Kelli were like when they were DCCs? I know they were group leaders during their different tenures but were they popular with their fellow cheerleaders and/or with the public and TPTB at the time?
first of all, I absolutely love watching Kleine's YT videos and all the little behind the scenes DCC parts that she gives that we wouldn't have ever seen unfiltered on AS or MTT.
I was so surprised in the video she just uploaded with Megan who was doing her makeup and they were talking about back in S16 of MTT which was their rookie year when TPTB would use a digital chart to number the girls in terms of top 36 and below that, who were at risk of getting cut. (I think usually their picture were in black and white if that was the case)
I was so surprised to hear that Megan was actually in the bottom row of people at risk/she even said she was below the 36th spot which shocked me as she seemed like such a strong dancer during her vet years but I barely remember her during Season 16 as a rookie and she was never shown to be called into the office so maybe it was part of footage that just got cut for time purposes?
I know that they’ve been doing thunderstruck for years now but prior to MTT, what was the “signature routine” song that the girls danced to? or was it just a different song each time?
This is a question coming from someone who is very much not a dancer myself but loved watching the dancing on MTT and AS. From any AS and MTT fans who are dancers in this subreddit, who do you guys think had the best/standout solos across the years? It can be either from a technical standpoint or just an ''it'' factor standpoint.
This is in regards to nobody in particular who is currently a vet on the team, but is there any current DCCs on the team that give you guys the inkling that maybe they'll only do 2-3 years on the team and then retire?
As we've seen throughout basically all of the seasons of AS, the girls pay has been a big part of the conversation. Is there any NFL cheer team out there currently that actually gets a good pay for the work that they do as cheerleaders?
IMO I think the two hardest for TPTB to let go of was 1 - Jinelle, they even seemed like they were trying to convince her to do a 6th year when they had the office visit and didn't wanna let her go so easily. 2 - I think would be Lacey even though they never outright said it to her, I think seeing as she had been with DCC they'd seen her grow up and I think especially for Judy, Lacey was a hard one for her to let go and wish she'd done another year.
Basically what the title says. If a girl does a full season as a DCC or more and then gets cut as a vet, does that automatically disqualify her from auditioning to be an all-star? Or is that still something that she can do?
In the wake of yet another Dayton TCC cut at auditions during AS3 it got me thinking, has there ever been any legacy cheerleaders that were able to make DCC and have a tenure that wasn't overshadowed by who their Mum was?
I can really only think of Meredith Oden from the very early days of MTT (one of the very first legacy cheerleaders and first legacy cheerleader on MTT) where, yes, her Mum was a big part of her rookie year and even came to give an encouraging talk to the girls before their first game. But after that it really seemed like Meredith was able to come into her own and be her own DCC that it seems like most people forgot she was a legacy cheerleader. I think she even got to be group leader during her tenure.
I know we can really only speculate the answer, but does anybody actually know what the difference between the girls being a quote on quote ''Judy girl'' vs being a quote on quote ''Kelli girl'' - like what's the difference between what Kelli looks for in the girls vs what Judy looks for that makes them a favourite to either of them individually. And is there ever been a DCC on MTT or AS that you guys think was both a Kelli and a Judy girl at the same time?
As someone who has never read the Sweet Magnolias books, what are some of the bigger and smaller changes that the show has made compared to the books so far in seasons 1 - 5?
As someone who is a DCC fan from outside of the US (NZ), I was wondering, does the DCC organisation themselves sell the DCC barbies for fans of the girls to purchase online or is it something where they sell them at the Star and DCC assosciated venues only in the US?
I ask this question both out of curiosity and also because I saw the clip on the DCC Instagram page. So, if anybody who either auditioned then or had a relative who auditioned then could tell me, how different was it from today’s process? Even how different was it from the MTT era process.
Yes I know, some of the early season stuff has aged poorly (body shaming and some of the atrocious makeover days when they'd blow out a girl's curly hair because it wasn't ''the DCC look'') but I feel like I enjoyed Kelli and Judy more pre-DCC blowing up on social media. You could tell they really were there to form the best team possible and were pretty tough on the girls (Judy specifically), in times such as when they would have to use the local high school for rehearsals cause the stadium wasn't built yet. (Judy saying ''push Joanna!'' still gets stuck in my head to this day)
Despite the DCC uniform being the same over the years with very minimal changes, the DCC uniform that TCCs would wear felt like it changed every other year during MTT. My question to you guys is, what version of their DCC practice outfit/uniform was your favourite?
