Switching careers?

Hi friends!!

For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted a job in healthcare. For the longest time, I thought it would be hard to achieve because I none of the rolls made sense to me. I was always good at math so I get a degree in Biomedical Engineering. Loved the program loved doing sciencey things and problem solving. Math was always my strong suit but I LOVE the classes that focused on medicine and the human body. Problem was there aren't many jobs that sounded fulfilling to me. That or I didn't get very far in the application process.

I worked as a general engineer for the past year and lost my job a month ago. Although I stayed for a while, I hated it. It was boring most of the time. I didn't know what I was doing and I was just there for the pay check and benefits. And honestly, I really wanted to do something in the clinical space. I worked on a hospital campus in a building detached from the main hospital. Everytime I went to the hospital, I'd try to talk to any healthcare provider about their job or what research they were working on.

I did realize that being a PA was a thing till I saw my primary care provider for some knee pain. He is a PA-C! After doing some research, I believe this is something I want to presue.

Is this a good idea? I looked at the requirements for PA school and I honestly want to do all of it! The shadowing, volunteering, patient care hours. I just feel weird with my experience trying to go to PA school. What made you want to be a PA? Is it feasible to have such a drastic career change? Thoughts?

I lost my job

I had a hard time at my job. I struggled with completing tasked at the rate my supervisor wanted them. Struggled with pushing myself to start/finish things. I really tried to make an effort to be good enough. People told me it's impossible to get fired from US government jobs as a civilian. I unfortunately made it possible. I was called into my boss's boss's office. He told me my probationary period was coming to an end and they did not want to continue with me. He suggested I resign before he immediately terminates me. He kept pushing the word immediate and I didn't know what to do other that take his advice. I didn't even know getting fired was on the table. I know my direct supervisor was hesitant to sign my promotion paperwork. Didn't think it would end like this. I was apart of the trainee program and I notified the guy in charge of the program that I was being force to resign or face termination. After I had left, he found my number and sincerely apologized. Said he never saw this coming and was very frustrated with the situation.

I'm having a hard time feeling motivated. That just took up a big chunk of my time and I'm the breadwinner supporting my husband and I while he's in school. I don't feel good enough to do anything and to say I'm sad is a huge understatement. I hated the job but it paid for the things I needed and loved to do with my family. Everyone (including old coworkers) is telling me its a blessing and it was a toxic workplace. I'm just very disappointed in myself for not being good enough.

I recently (2-3 months ago) got an ADHD diagnosis. We've been testing to see if anything works. Everything up to this point has made me feel exhausted. I can't get stimulant medication till I meet my psychiatrist in person. Since I have the free time, I changed my appointment to in person. I just want to work like my peers do without struggling, pursue something meaningful, and not feel broken...

Primary talk topics

Hi everyone! I was recently called as Primary President. Before, I was a Primary teacher. We didn't do talks with the last presidency, but i'm trying to make it a priority. I'm having a hard time coming up with topics and thought it would be fun to crowdsource! Send me some of your favorites :)

Cost of diagnosis?

Hey friends! I just left the gynecologist a few hours ago and the said there's a good chance I have endometriosis and I'd need an endoscopic procedure to diagnose it. Being in America, cost is a HUGE decision factor for me. My health insurance plan says it may cost $3,510 out of my pocket but I could have looked it up wrong.

If you did the procedure, how much did it cost you? Did you think it was worth it?

Thanks :)

My ex keeps viewing my LinkedIn profile

When I was in college in 2022, I dated this guy who I was really close friends with before hand. After 5 months or so, I felt miserable and broke up with him.

Fast forward to 2025, I was engaged about to get married when I noticed my ex started following me on Instagram. This threw me off guard for a bit but I remembered when we broke up that he wanted to cut off all communication until he could get over me, so I followed him back and thought nothing of it. We still don't talk to each other, even today. We sometimes see each other's stories and posts but that's all that really happens.

About a month ago (May 2026), I found him on LinkedIn and sent him a request. He accepted it and now I get notifications weekly saying that he has viewed my profile. I've brought this up to my husband, but it doesn't seem to bother him. But it bothers ME!

Should I confront my ex? Maybe leave it alone? Am I overreacting by letting it bother me?
