What it’s like: Selling on Vestiaire

Allow me to set the scene for you:

You have one new message in your inbox :

“ what’s the lowest price you will take for this?”

Make an offer has been disabled. You thought this was implied.

Both you and the potential buyers of Vestiaire can see that you started this item out at say $400 and you have it marked down to 170 so a generous already 50% off and you’ve disallowed the offers to keep coming in. At this point after fees, you might as well keep it.

The buyer asks if you’ll take “$150 for it , you kindly remind the buyer that you’re already making less than $150 on your end, and they remind you that there’s taxes and shipping and authentication fees in some case cases tariffs so they need you to go lower and take it out of your cut

You say my apologies, but I cannot do that - oh well, they tried . It can’t hurt right. At least they did it privately. Also 150 is so close to 170. Can’t you find a discount code for 10% and get it that way?

Scenario number two the second buyer no need to ask if you will lower the price on an item you’ve disabled the offer feature on. They tell you the price you will take by just writing you a message with the price they are willing to pay. You don’t respond because you don’t know how to respond to a number not even a question- just a number.

And this buyer sees and notes that you haven’t responded and decides to comment on your item that you need to take less for it because they need the item cleaned and to take that into account and not the fact that you paid $1200 for this item brand new and 400 was reasonable - because the buyer messaged you $150 and told you that’s what you will take and now everyone else gets to read that’s what your items worth according to a rude and crazy person on a comment you can’t delete

So you withdraw your listing so the conversation & that buyer go away and you start all over again and that’s the beauty of VC is sometimes you don’t get the price of the listing right or you get harassed or it doesn’t hit the algorithm right and you can just start over again without fear of suspension like over on Poshmark

Could they make offers binding? Yes, but it wouldn’t help because they’d have to advertise their fees before an offer is accepted and they will never do that and also offers would never get accepted if full fee schedule was disclosed - so it is the way it is.

The other day I had just listed a fendi baguette in really good condition and it went live at $900. Buyers could make offers on the listing and within minutes I get a message “I’ll give you $250 for it” I said “sure thing, go ahead and make an offer through the app on the listing, I’ll accept!”

big sale or big disappointment?

Umm …. What’s going on with thred up? Most of their discount codes/promotions are more or less the same, but I went through all my brands and I can’t find one decent priced decent condition item on the entire website. I’ve never seen it this picked over/lame.

The pricing lately is outrageous. Is this because individuals can set their prices now? I can’t even find an unbranded/mistagged gem.

Literally everything that’s at a decent sale price , is stained and torn to sh*t.

3 hours of my sleepless night wasted. Common thred up! How can I try for a haul to spend some unexpected extra cash and you’re giving me nothing.

And if this is just me… please give me your tips and lemme know what you’re finding cause I give up

Update: all day long I’ve been nursing my cart guys and I’m $1.13 away from free shipping and I just can’t do it. I can’t do it I give up I’m out lol lolol

Poshmark Authentication is doing Quality Checks now… kind of.

Well, it looks like they got their heads out of their butts on this one but as with any change they try to implement they can’t manage without royally effing it up.

So I had an authenticated order get an update that was sent to me separate from the conversation that the buyer can see. They claimed there was wear on the bag, not disclosed in the listing however it’s hard to tell if this claim is legitimate or not…it read like a bad IND case where the photos were so unhelpful I couldn’t figure out where on the bag they were referencing.

But they were not sharing this report with the buyer, and I asked them to cancel the sale and mail the bag back to me . They refused. I then took a screenshot of what they were claiming on the bag and posted it in the main conversation so buyer could also see and then I escalated it to bring Poshmark in the chat. Posh Mark admitted to not sending the report to the buyer to which I asked them. “What is the point of you doing a quality control check which is basically announcing that this item was found to be an IND yet you still are going to mail it on to the buyer and not disclose this information nor give them the option to cancel the sale?”

Whose ass are they trying to cover here? Their own. They don’t give two flying f*cks about someone else’s property and money.

And that will be the last order I ever give that company an item to authenticate. I think it’s great they want to do quality control checks now but the fact they’re not being transparent about it is a bunch of bullsh*t and I bet they didn’t expect me the seller to throw my own sale under the bus on principle and in defense of the buyer. If they are going to claim something is IND and still mail it off to force the sale, screw that. That only benefits them and hurts me as a seller as it puts my property at greater risk when they’ve already declared it’s not as described.

Do I think the damage they reported was there before? I don’t actually. But again it’s hard to tell because I have no idea exactly where it is because they only sent me one close-up blurry photo, but I wasn’t even focused on that. What I was focused on the fact was they didn’t tell the same information to the buyer they completed the inspection report and we’re gonna ship it on to the buyer without notifying them and that just doesn’t sit right with me. 20% commission on a $1,000+ sale for zero liability and intentionally taking actions to conceal information and put others property and money at further risk.. all under the guise that this is their “marketplace” policy.

lol. It’s laughable if it’s there you have to send it back to me. How can you send it on to the new buyer when you just created a problem/discrepancy like it doesn’t make any sense to me i’m not OK with the bag being damaged just as much as a buyer wouldn’t be, and if your intention is to cut down your item not described cases you would think that you would share the information with the buyer and give them the option to cancel the sale while the item is still in your possession. The fact that they mailed it on to the new buyer and cited to me that’s their policy….is the reason I’m making this public they even messaged me separately and said you weren’t supposed to tell the buyer this to which I argued that they shouldn’t conceal information intentionally in order to force the sale. So we’ll see what happens.

I want to request all my bags back. Some it’s been over six months . I have made a whopping $4.05 from 4 bags of 10 items each, all my partners have significantly lowered the prices when I asked the bags to be returned and they took the shittest photos to begin with which is why nothing ever sells.

Requesting my bags back from my partners individually led them to deeply discounting my items most of them now are all between 5-9 dollars meaning Poshmark will make 3 dollars and I’ll get a f*cking dollar- as if.

So now wanna contact whoever is in charge of this waste of my time program and be like - get my bags back to me now or I’ll take you and these sellers to small claims court.

In what world do you demand I give you $100 plus retail items to qualify and partner me with such lazy ass sellers who can’t even take a decent photo and are willing to be paid $1 for their time. If I knew then what I know now that you were just assisting in transferring possession of my stuff without paying me, I’d request it be a donation so I can write it off my taxes 🙄

Never again. Screw that program to infinity .

Update; a commenter confirmed what I already suspected : THEY HAVE “PAUSED”’THE PROGRAM.

No wonder I can’t get a response about returning my items from the chat…or support.

When will they learn if they launch a new feature and it turns out to be sh*t and they do nothing other than increase costs, requirements, and simultaneously provide even less support and oversight, they will end up with an even sh*tier product/feature everyone hates and become too scared to talk about it!!! lol

The only promising sign anyone is still seeing my just added listings (now that everyone who follows me I longer sees me in their feed), was shares right after listing submission.

Since yesterday, not a single new listing got a single share.

Anyone else?!?

Anyone who’s digested the recent announcements is there anything in there noteworthy/you’re excited about?

I am celebrating (yes, celebrating) the slowest 60 days in my PoshMark history with my only sale in the last week being one already great priced lux wallet I accepted a 50 percent off offer on. I regretted it, but the thought of having my first goose egg week in my Posh history scared me a little. Needless to say I’m killing it LITERALLY-everywhere-else!!!

As I’m writing this I’m noticing My Posh Stat changes with the new stats I can see I have a seller cancellation rate of 1.2% and the only sale I cancelled was buyer requested and I coded it out as such and a return rate of 3.7% 1 of those returns being an authenticated order than passed at PMHQ and the buyer opened a case claiming it was counterfeit

Seriously Poshmark? You can’t even get your stats right which is why I refuse to *try* to sell anything and participate most days you make me all scared to move and interact!!!

So I had(have) 500k+ followers on Poshmark and in the past, I got by by just making new listings because I assume that all my followers saw me in their feed and that was kind of what gave me promotion in the algorithm. I don’t know. I can’t figure it out.

But now it doesn’t matter cause you can’t even see how many people follow anybody and it doesn’t show you your feed based off of the people you follow and if I’m wrong about this, please someone corrected me, but I looked and I can’t find you know anybody except at the bottom of the page where it says find people but not people I’m already Connected with

So mix that in with the fact that my sales have been slower than they’ve been in probably five or seven years it’s been going on for the last couple months and granted I took a hiatus because I waited for Poshmark to update everything and get the kinks worked out before I started adding new listings and last week I started adding new listings and I’m adding like 60 listings a day… crickets

Any advise? Do we have to sign up for promoted now? The consignment program is a joke. Everybody takes bad pictures and can’t sell anything so outsourcing my inventory was a waste of time.

It used to be the most organic thing you could do to get priority in the algorithm was create new listing so if I’m massively, creating new listings and all type of listings mind you you would think I’d get something other than a few shares . Nope.

Helppppppp
