UWorld and PANCE one week

How to best use UWorld at this timeline? I'm 66% with 32% completed on UWorld.

I keep missing obvious stuff. Timing at this point is not an issue for me, I can finish 60 Q sets with 20 minutes to spare, I might be going too fast if anything.

I also will feel a vibe about an answer that I feel like could be right, but reason something else as a stronger answer, but my vibes were right the first time. So if I get it wrong, I make a flashcard on it to memorize to target the specific knowledge gap.

At this point, should I continue to work through system through system by just doing Qs and reading the explanations? Or randomized systems? Is there a better way to do this so I stop missing those obvious questions where I know the diagnosis but not the second-order detail?

New Grad Rejection Fellowships & Jobs - Feeling Lost

New grad PA in 1 week with PANCE in 3 weeks. I've interviewed at 4 fellowships all high-acuity ICU and was rejected from all of them. I've applied to job offers with no response due to being underqualified (they wanted 1-3 years of exp). Looking for jobs across the country in a less APP popular state (WA). Thus far, much of my classmates have either gotten into a fellowship or job at this point and I'm feeling lost. I recieved feedback from my interviews that mention my prior clinical experience was too limited and I talked for too long answering questions (Prior PC E was CNA)

Few questions...

Should I wait to apply to more jobs after the PANCE? If I do should I re-submit applications and mentioned I've passed the PANCE (not sure how this works)

Is this normal? I feel some imposter syndrome as most my classmates have offers by now or acceptance into a fellowship by now and I've gotten rejected by all of them. I feel like I shouldn't be here and I'm disappointing everyone who wrote a LOR for me.

How can I interview better? I get interviews but I can't get passed them, I get the sense I'm not coming off right, waffling too broad of answers, not being concise enough to make a decision. I feel like my explanations are very clear but it still isn't enough.

I'm scared of the comparison about to come up, I am not the smartest in my class (below average at most), and it was hard for me to make friends despite being extroverted. I worked really hard to be where I am and I fear I'm doing something foundationally incorrect.

Predominantly White Men Location Dating Outside Their Race?

I'm a 26f asian american woman from the west coast who just moved to a predominantly southern white area and I've found my type to be very much "young muscular firefighter guy with a mustache and mullet who wears jeans and boots" to a hardcore level of down bad. although, I fear I'm not very much their type because they may be looking primarily for women in their own race, caucasian women/southern women/IG models.

I noticed on dating apps or on dates, the ones I'm especially attracted to usually are in it for just the sex or have a very off-affect to them-- in otherwords, they either have a lot of women to already choose from and would rather choose a hotter girl or are single for socially inept reasons. I notice the ones that are attracted to me, I am unfortunately not that into, they are generally fiercely online gamer boys or fuck boys...... I would describe myself as appearing like a "bay area" asian girl with the dyed hair and false eyelash look and I generally socialize well and have fun interests like: rock climbing, making espresso, collecting vinyl records... so....

essentially i would like to know if:

  1. Would white men in a mostly white area with plenty of beautiful white women venture out? Or are their preferences still just white women in the end?

  2. Am I not my "types" type based on my description of myself?

  3. Am I just dating too far out of my league? (I can DM pictures of myself and what I'm looking for if the responder would be willing to offer thoughts)

Difficulty of Fellowship Acceptance

About to ne new grad PA wanting to know if this is a common experience. I know there is much debate surrounding fellowships vs full-time work. I have found that a fellowship would be right for me, I just didn't expect the difficulty of entry and likely due to being disillusioned from classmates.

I applied to 3 fellowships and got invites to interview at all 3, rejected from 2 thus far. A group of my classmates similarly applied to 4+ at much harder specialties (crit care, ect) and have all recieved acceptances from all 4+. So I assumed the bar of entry was lower.

From my understanding, the fellowships I applied to naturally are highly competitive with 1-2 spots out of 30-50 applicants so it makes sense. I think I interview well, but I would like to be better. Thoughts?

Hooking up while Pursuing Something Serious: How to Screen for This?

I'm 26F who was open to short-term casual with 26M without exclusivity. We had met initially and hit it off a little too well for a casual, we were compatible in many ways. Second date rolls around, great convos and meal and slept together. First things I notice when someone I'm sleeping with doesn't have great hookup ettiquette is the interactions die after sex-- No good mornings or real acknowledgements. That was him, we got coffee and said goodbye.

He had been texting me only to say how much he thought of me after that night but was otherwise radio silent. Texted me for a booty call one night which I had some apprehension about but went over anyways. That night I had a respectful conversation asking if I should know of any STI history, and mentioned I didn't have any, he seemed confused by this but I had cleared up I was asking just for my knowledge and was not judgemental or suspicious.

Since then, I had noticed some inconsistencies in his words such as how he was going to enjoy wine but with "the boys" or intimate meet ups with a equal ratio of men and women with the addition of his steadily decreasing seeming enthusiasm for me as a hookup.

He mentioned we would see each other again and on a random weekday said he's seeing something serious and we should probably end our hookups after really only hooking up for a week. But my friend found him on her side of Hinge but she can't recall if it was a "old like" or if he was actively still on the app.

What's the deal with this and how do I screen for people like this in the beginning so I'm not tied up with someone I feel drawn toward/have fun only to get thrown away in a week? Did the STI question skew the enthusiasm for this?

Rejected ICU Fellowship, Prospects and Advice?

I recently got a rejection email for the ICU fellowship position at my ideal city, just shortly after the interview. I really want to be a ICU PA and graduating in less than 4 months. It's too late to apply to any other fellowships, but I know this is what I want to do.

I need to keep moving, should I just take as "general" of a job that can come to me? (I plan to move back to a HCOL and saturated city)

What are the chances I work another job, hopefully a generalist one as a new grad and naturally find a ICU job down the line?

Would it benefit me more to take the pay cut and do a fellowship even though I have a full-payng job down the line?

And what kind of candidate were they looking for for a ICU position? I felt that I may have been slightly verbose, and I fumbled a ethic and medical question as I didn't know how to prioritize avoiding overstepping my role while performing medical interventions. I was mildly cut off at the end. Any thoughts on how to improve PA interviews?

25F. Met a guy off dating apps, hit it off really well. Like the best I've ever been approached. He learned I was only in town for a few more months and thats when I started to feel him pulling away. I initiated all the dates from then on, but he paid and planned, we would sleep with each other.

Two months in. Had a discussion and he mentioned he only wanted something short-term, casual, open to dates, hanging out, and okay with sex or no sex... Mainly because of how short I would be in town for, he was not willing to compromise on being long distance. I mentioned how I started to get real feelings for him and he mentioned that it was not reciprocal at such a intense level.

Since then, I took a short break from talking to him to detach and rethink things and I became okay with short term casual. I've been trying to reach out as I began to be okay with just hooking up and a simple cheap night in. He is now taking multiple days to get back to me and when he does he says he already made plans. He used to offer alternative dates but he has been busy with his friends, he has started a new video game and he has spent a lot of time talking about it and investing in it.

I take care of myself, I stay lean and eat clean, get my hair done regularly, I'm practiced in makeup, I dress classy and curl my hair, and I am a young professional with a solid job. So it's not like he's icked out by me... Why would a man, being offered a woman who would be down for sex any time, want to act like we were dating, offer physical touch and gifts, compliment him, spend genuine time connecting, still prioritize gaming and be "busy"?

TLDR; Although Im only in town for 6 more months. Why would a man, being offered a woman who would be down for sex any time, want to act like we were dating, offer physical touch and gifts, compliment him, spend genuine time connecting, still prioritize gaming and be "busy"?
