I just want to rant about my story here.
I'm an introvert from South India. I completed my BCA in 2024, and during college, I met a Catholic girl. I'm Hindu, but religion was never a problem for me.
We dated for 3+ years. I genuinely loved her and was completely invested in the relationship. But after around three years, things started changing. She became interested in someone else and eventually committed to another guy. She also told me that what I considered love and care sometimes felt like possessiveness to her.
She left me while we were doing our MCA, even though we were in the same class.
The ironic part is that before joining MCA, I actually told her that maybe we should go to different colleges and stay in touch instead. I knew that being in the same class might make things complicated. But at that time, she insisted that we should join the same college and be in the same batch.
After she left me, my mental state completely fell apart. I loved her so much that it took me a long time to accept what had happened. I tried asking for forgiveness a few times and tried to fix things, but eventually I realized I had to accept reality and move on.
Now comes the part that really hurts.
I was always a good student and, honestly, probably one of the more tech savvy people in my batch. She barely knew much about data analytics. For example, during one group project with four people, she didn't really do the data analysis herself. I ended up doing almost everything for the project, while she mainly collected the survey responses.
Now college is over.
She got a data analyst job in Dubai through her sister, who already lives in the UAE.
And here I am, still struggling to get a proper job.
The part I find difficult to accept is that I had an 8+ CGPA, while she had a 6+ CGPA. Her family is financially well off, while I already have around ₹4 lakh in education loans.
Getting a job abroad has been one of my biggest dreams for years. She knew how badly I wanted it too.
And now, somehow, she's living that life while I'm still here trying to figure out what to do next.
I'm not saying she doesn't deserve her job, or that I'm entitled to anything just because I worked hard. I know life doesn't work that way.
But honestly, it feels incredibly unfair.
I spent years loving someone, supported her through college, worked hard on my own career, maintained good grades, built technical skills, and still can't seem to catch a break.
Meanwhile, the person who broke my heart seems to be doing completely fine and has the exact kind of life I always dreamed about.
I know comparing myself to her isn't healthy. I know her success isn't the reason for my failure.
But when you're already struggling, it's hard not to look at someone who hurt you and wonder, "Why did everything work out for her while I'm the one left behind?"
That's basically where my life is right now. I don't really know what I'm expecting from posting this. I guess I just needed somewhere to let it all out.
Hey everyоne,
І'm аn МCА student аnd wіll be grаduаtіng іn аbоut twо weeks. Fоr the pаst three mоnths, І've been puttіng everythіng І hаve іntо fіndіng my fіrst sоftware engіneerіng rоle.
Sо fаr, І've sent 357 cоld emаіls (nоt іncludіng dіrect аpplіcаtіоns, LіnkedІn, DMs, referrаls, etc.) аnd аttended 9+ іntervіews. Every tіme І get clоse, there's аlwаys sоme new technоlоgy оr cоncept thаt І'm expected tо knоw іn depth. Sо І leаrn іt, mоve fоrwаrd, аnd keep gоіng. The leаrnіng never stоps, аnd honestly, І dоn't wаnt іt tо.
Whаt keeps me gоіng іs thаt І've spent my tіme buіldіng аnd deplоyіng reаl-wоrld prоjects іnsteаd оf just academіc аssіgnments. І genuіnely lоve buіldіng sоftware аnd sоlvіng prоblems.
І'm nоt lооkіng fоr sympаthy оr а shоrtcut. І'm lооkіng fоr а stаrtup thаt іs wіllіng tо tаke а chаnce оn а fresher whо іs hungry tо leаrn, shіp fаst, аnd grоw wіth the cоmpаny.
Іf yоu're а fоunder оr hіrіng mаnаger whо vаlues pоtentіаl, оwnershіp, аnd the wіllіngness tо fіgure thіngs оut, І'd lоve tо cоnnect. Gіve me оne reаl оppоrtunіty, аnd І'll dо everythіng І cаn tо prоve yоu mаde the rіght decіsіоn.
Even іf yоu're nоt hіrіng, І'd lоve tо heаr hоw yоu brоke іntо the іndustry оr аny аdvіce yоu thіnk cоuld help.
Thаnk yоu fоr reаdіng.
I just wanted to share what's been happening lately.
I'm an MCA student and will be graduating in about two weeks. For the past three months, I've been applying for jobs almost every single day.
So far, I've sent 357 cold emails (not including direct applications through company websites, LinkedIn Easy Apply, DMs, referrals, etc.). I've also attended 9+ interviews, but I still haven't managed to land an offer.
Most of the time, I get rejected because there's always something they expect me to know in depth. Every interview teaches me something new, and I spend my time learning those topics afterward. It feels like the list of things to learn never ends.
What makes it harder is that, in my batch, I'm one of the few people who built and deployed real world projects instead of just academic ones. Meanwhile, I've seen people who struggle with even basic configuration tasks get hired through referrals. I don't blame them they took the opportunities they had but it can be discouraging.
I'm not asking for shortcuts or sympathy. I just want one opportunity where I can prove myself through actual work. Give me one real chance, and I'll do everything I can to justify that trust.
Has anyone else been through something similar? How did you finally break into the industry?
I’m from a tier 2 city and studied at a tier 3 college(MCA) . I’m not trying to show off, but I genuinely believe I have strong potential in software development and machine learning. Even though I wasn’t a top academic performer in my batch, many of my friends and lecturers recognized my technical curiosity and ability. While most of my classmates were just discovering GitHub, I was already exploring Hugging Face, GitHub projects, AI tools, and newer technologies on my own.
Before college ended, (1month back) , I kept trying hard to get internships and software, related jobs. I attended around 5–7 interviews. In many of them, I felt I performed quite well probably around 80–90% overall. But despite doing reasonably well, I still couldn’t secure an offer because the current job market is extremely competitive.
Recently, through a relative of my friend, I received an offer for a NOC job with a salary of ₹20,000/month in a metro city.
Honestly, I’m not feeling great about it.
I understand that networking has stability and can eventually lead toward cloud engineering or cybersecurity, which are both good career paths. But emotionally, it feels like all the years I spent learning software development, Python, ML, GitHub, and newer technologies might go to waste.
At the same time, I’m also realistic. I know the market is brutal right now even many 2024 engineering graduates are still unemployed. So I’m genuinely confused about what the right decision is and what I should do next.
