Selling 1 ticket for Ministry at the Salt Shed tonight - sold out show

SOLD

Ministry, Acid Bath, and Windhand tonight! My friend can't come anymore so I'm selling their ticket. General admission ticket for $60. Doors open at 5 PM, show starts at 6:30 PM. It was originally at the fairgrounds but has been moved indoors.

I have proof of purchase directly from Ticketmaster. I know Ticketmaster has been having issues with ticket transfers this week so I'm fine with meeting at the venue for the exchange of payment and we can walk in together so the ticket is guaranteed to be accepted if you'd feel more comfortable with that. Otherwise, early payment and digital ticket transfer is fine. Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, or cash payment.

How to remove dust roach treatment

An exterminator came to my apartment for roaches and used dust in one area despite the fact that I have cats. They applied it where they believed there was a separation between the baseboard and floor, but a previous tenant already sealed that area with clear caulk so the dust did not actually go into a crevice, it just sat on top of the baseboard/caulk/floor. I asked a couple times what the dust was (such as boric acid, DE, etc) and he didn't specify. He only used it in one part of the kitchen because I asked him to use the liquid spray instead, but now I'm worried about this dust getting kicked up and harming my cats.

I washed the area with soap and water while wearing protective gear and dried it. Is this sufficient or do I need to do something else?

UPDATE POST How to best clean kitchen faucet

ORIGINAL POST: https://www.reddit.com/r/CleaningTips/s/xZ3zfqm2QO

I wasn't able to update my original post with a photo of the kitchen faucet post-cleaning, so here's an new post. I soaked the faucet in a citric acid+water solution (2 tbsp citric acid and 2 cups water) for about 2.5 hours and then scrubbed it with a toothbrush. Major success! Thank you to everyone who provided helpful and relevant suggestions, I really appreciate your feedback.

To everyone who told me to throw it away and buy a new one - THIS is why it's wasteful to do that. Many things *can and should* be cleaned. If that is not successful then of course, replace it. But you should at least try to clean it first.

And to those who chose to insult me personally in a subreddit for cleaning tips - please get some help.

How to roach-proof a new apartment?

I'm moving to a new apartment next month in a US city that is known to have issues with different types of roaches (American, German, Oriental). I am not aware of this building already having roach problems, but the building is 100 years old with a lot of units so I know it's a possibility in this city and I want to do everything possible to prevent a problem right away.

I will have two days where I will have access to my new apartment before my belongings and my cats will be moved in. What is the best way I can roach-proof my apartment?

First I plan to seal all openings in walls, baseboards, windows, and doors with clear silicone or acrylic caulk. If there are gaps around plumbing under sinks, I'll fill them with copper mesh. I'll plug all drains when not in active use. I also know about removing food/water sources. If anyone has better recommendations for sealing entry points, please let me know!

I have read recommendations for a variety of products like Advion gel bait, Alpine WSG, Gentrol, etc. I'm not entirely sure which products make the most sense to use and how to use them effectively.

- Where should I be applying the products and how frequently for prevention?

- Should I spray an Alpine/Gentrol mix around all the baseboards before or after sealing them with caulk?

- Should I skip the spray and just use the gel bait?

- How exactly do I apply gel bait around my apartment - directly applying the gel onto the floor/walls or can it be on a piece of paper?

- Since my cats won't be in the apartment for two days, is there something I should do on day one that will be effective quickly (but maybe isn't pet safe) before I move in with the cats?

Thank you in advance for any helpful recommendations!

How to roach-proof a new apartment?

Still Without Power

I'm in Lombard and still without power after 6.5 hours. No updates from ComEd. According to their outage tracker, they haven't even assigned a crew to this outage yet! How is it possible for no progress to occur after this much time?

Are others in the area still without power? Does anyone have any updates?

UPDATE At 10:44 PM I received my first update: Hello Customer,

We know you are without power and we appreciate your patience as crews work to restore outages. Based on the history of similar storms of this size, we expect 80% of outages in your region to be restored by Wednesday 7/29 at 12pm. We’ll update you as more information becomes available.

Thank you,

ComEd.com Team

UPDATE 2 I got power back at 5:30 AM 🙏 This was an eye opener for sure about how I need to be better prepared for extended power outages. I feel extremely fortunate that I got power back after 17.5 hours. Based on the comments, it seems like power is coming back on for a lot of people in waves so I hope everyone here gets theirs back sometime today.

TIP BEFORE THROWING OUT EGGS! ... You can test your eggs to see if they are still safe to eat by placing them in a glass that is half full of water. If the egg sinks to the bottom, it is safe to eat. If the egg rises to the surface of the water, the egg is not safe to eat and should be thrown out.

Has anyone rented in this building by Surf Development?

4437 N Wolcott Ave. I've read mixed reviews about this company and I'm wondering if it depends on the building location. Has anyone lived here that can tell me if you liked it or if there were severe problems? I'm mostly concerned about roaches but am interested in any info you can share.

Update to also ask how loud it is having the brown line right behind the building.

Ravenswood Vista

I'm interested in hearing from people who have lived at Ravenswood Vista, especially if you've lived there recently within the last 5 years or so. Did you have good experiences with management? Was maintenance responsive? Did you experience any issues with mold, roaches, or other pest problems? Was there adequate soundproofing between units?

I'm considering renting here and would appreciate your feedback!

Are people expected to just apply sight unseen?

The only time I've ever applied to and leased an apartment I didn't see in person was because I was thousands of miles away and had no other choice. I'm shocked by how quickly units are disappearing to the point where I wonder if people are just applying without having scheduled a tour. Especially when these rentals have to give residents 24-48 hours notice of their unit being toured. I want to see a building and unit in person to see if photos match the reality, if it's clean, if there are pest issues, if there's reasonable soundproofing, etc. Are people applying without touring first?

First month's rent due with application?

On XL Properties listings they ask for the first month's rent at the time of application. This seems very abnormal to me. However, this management company seems to be highly rated. Has anyone done this before and it was fine, or is this a red flag?

North Neighborhood Apartment Search

UPDATE: I'm willing to buy my own AC unit for the apartment and I'm willing to forego a dishwasher if that's not possible. I really just want in-building laundry, 20 minute walk to a train, street parking, cats allowed, and no garden unit. Studio is not an option due to my job working from home.

ORIGINAL POST BELOW

I'm currently in a suburb and want to move to a north Chicago neighborhood. My lease ends September 4th and I am looking for a 1 bedroom apartment. My budget is $1550 not including utilities, and $1700 including utilities. My credit score is excellent. I have two cats.

I'm looking at neighborhoods north of I-90: Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, Andersonville, Edgewater, Uptown, Buena Park, Albany Park, North Center, Roscoe Village, Logan Square, Wicker Park, Bucktown, and Old Irving Park. I like a residential neighborhood feel but within walking distance or a quick bus ride to restaurants, shops, music venues, etc. I would like to be within a 15-20 minute walk to a train station.

I need AC and ideally a w/d in the building. I'd prefer to have a dishwasher. I prefer the top floor but if that's not realistic, any floor that's not a garden unit.

I have a car and am fine with street parking but understand that in some areas that's impossible and would appreciate any info on that if people know which neighborhoods are easier than others.

I'm considering asking my current apartment manager for a one month extension, which I'm sure will be very expensive, only because I wonder if it will be easier or less expensive to find a Chicago apartment later in September or for an Oct. 1st move in. If anyone has feedback on this, I'd love to hear it.

TLDR; I'm looking for advice about which north Chicago neighborhoods I might be more likely to find an above ground unit in my price range that meets my needs. Any help would be appreciated!
