Should I get proper ice skates?

I 16F had my first learn to skate class. I was doing it in rentals cause i don’t have my own skates yet. I was put into a level 3 class and almost all of the other people had their own skates. My mum said I can get proper skates if I want but I don’t know if this is too early to get them. I found the class okay, but I found things like backwards skating and turning pretty difficult (possibly due to the rentals?) But yeah i’m not really sure if it’s just a skill issue or if the rentals are hindering me cause no one else in my class seemed to struggle as much as I did.

Are figure skating magazines still a thing? How do I get them?

Basically title. I’m new to the world of skating so I’m looking for some (preferably physical) magazines to read to learn more about figure skating in a fun way! I’m in the UK and from what I’ve heard, the UK skating magazines no longer exist. The international figure skating magazine’s website is broken from what I can tell, and I can’t find issues published beyond 2023 which makes me think they no longer publish either. I know theres a US figure skating magazine but I have no idea if it ships to the UK and how expensive that would be. I imagine shipping costs would build up a lot over time haha. Any advice?

Help with talking to strangers?

I’ve been trying to get out of the house more and I’ve had a few conversations with random people. I always really enjoy it because it’s fun getting to talk with someone you wouldn’t normally get to talk to. Only problem is, I feel so bad because I SUCK at talking to people. Usually I just panic and don’t know what to say, then a few minutes after the interaction I think “I should’ve said this or asked that” I think it makes me come off as a bit aloof when that isn’t how I want to come across at all! Like today I was talking with some tourists in my city and it was nice but I just totally blanked on what to say, all I managed to get out was asking them where they were from, so it looked like I was disinterested when I really wasn’t. Any advice on conversational skills?

xm4s going insanely loud when turned on

This happens fairly frequently, like twice a month. When i turn my xm4s on and connect them to my phone at first, they occasionally go really really loud for like 5 seconds of playing music then go back to normal. Like, so loud it’s significantly louder than the highest volume setting. I don’t know what’s causing this and it’s a pretty big issue because if i forget to wait a few seconds before putting them on it’s really painful when its super loud. Any help?
