What tests shall I ask GP for?

Hi I’m posting on here because I think I have some type of hypoglycaemia. I’m 40 and female, I have multiple health conditions including PCOS, chronic migraine, ehlers danlos, suspected fibromyalgia. I have always had issues with low blood sugar episodes since I was a teen. When I was in my early 20s I got diagnosed with PCOS, and since then I controlled my symptoms with diet.

Unfortunately the past couple of years my health has taken a turn for the worse and I have had issues with migraines, low iron, constant exhaustion etc. I have also had an increase in low blood sugar episodes where I feel weak, shaky and dizzy. I’m still eating a similar diet, and it’s fairly good high protein, low carb, lots of veggies and salad etc, however my weight has increased a lot. I am also under a lot of stress so cortisol could be an issues.

I feel like I need some extra help to manage my symptoms. My issue is that my GP is useless. She has decided that I’m perimenopausal and have chronic fatigue and just wants me to have a merina coil and take duloxotine and leave it at that.

I suspect there is more going on with my hormones, possible insulin resistance, autoimmune, high cortisol etc, but she’s not interested in testing me for these things.

Can anyone suggest the tests I could ask for? Or point me in the direction of a private clinic in the UK who may be able to help me?

Insulin resistance and weight loss

I am really struggling with my weight. I am a 40 year old female with multiple chronic health conditions including EDS, chronic migraine, fibromyalgia and pcos. I have put on a lot of weight in the past year, especially around my middle.

The frustrating part is I eat a pretty decent diet. Lots of whole grains and proteins. I think the reason that I am gaining weight is due to lack of exercise. I used to walk 3-4 miles a day, but this has reduced due to my health. Similarly there are days when I’m tired and have to rely on ready meal to eat.

I’m also really struggling with insulin resistance. If I go 2-3 hours without eating a feel dizzy and shaky. If it gets bad then I need some chocolate or cola as a pick me up.

It’s really getting me down as I want to be healthy, but the weight is just piling on. Any ideas what I can do?

I know I could do a strict diet, but I also need to be kind to myself. I’m not in mentally the best frame of mind, I have chronic health conditions and I’m a parent carer to 3 special needs kids, so I’m pretty exhausted most of the time. I have tried strict diets before and it has a bad effect on me mentally.

Please could you share anything that has helped, and also how can I approach this with my GP in the UK who isn’t particularly understanding.

Outdoor play equipment for sensory seekers!!

Can anyone help me find the impossible. I’ve exhausted google. I have two boys (AuDhd/DCD) aged 7 and 12 who are massive sensory seekers. They need to move, climb and swing to regulate. The current children’s wooden swingset we have is on its last legs as they swing so hard it’s coming out of the ground. I’m after some sort of climbing frame or outdoor gym equipment that is suitable for older kids and won’t fall to pieces.

Must haves are- something to climb, a tumble bar or something similar as one likes to hang upside down, and a swing.

I love the grow play monkey bars but it’s a bit too big for our garden! Any ideas.
