Veterans of the Fall (spoilers)
I was wondering what everyone thought about it. I really want to like the book, but it just kinda falls flat. Spoilers ahead.
>!The constant replacement of antagonists combined with mostly munitorum standard characters just made it a boring mess. The stock characters would have been fine if the antagonist was consistent. We go from a fallen sergeant, to a cult leader, to a chaos space marine, so we don't get a lot of flavoring for them as characters. !<
>!The changing villans also stopped any characters from actually shining. Orrick felt like Creed Extra Lite, with no added flavors. Gunner was interesting, but the crowd of forgettable characters drowns him out and makes his final sacrifice feel cold. !<
I've read a lot of Astra Militarum books, and a lot of Cadian ones too. This is I guess the best portrayal of the Cadian stereotype. Bland, no humor, and so effective it defies plausiblity and narrative flow. Am I missing something here? Is this one you would recommend as a reread? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
Finally finished painting the Kroot kill team.
The Kroot Loops aren't perfect, but they're done. C&C appreciated.
Kroot Loops
