I'm coming out of a weird funk and have finally felt like painting again! I followed Paul Clark's French Cafe Scene tutorial ❤️

I absolutely love painting and I was painting pretty much every day for months until a month ago. I've been in a depressive funk and I'm finally coming out of it, so I had the motivation to paint again. I really loved this scene, Paul Clark's videos are amazing and I highly recommend him!! ❤️

[Update] I've been attempting to sell on Etsy for a month with no sales and I genuinely am starting to think my art isn't good enough.

Here's a link to my original post. I re-named my shop to Riverbend Watercolors: I've been attempting to sell on Etsy for a month with no sales and I genuinely am starting to think my art isn't good enough. : r/EtsySellers

So about 5 months ago I posted here requesting feedback on my shop and I got tons of great advice. I took everyone's recommendations and I've done my best to market myself and my work as best as possible. Despite that I still have only 3 sales with two of them being family/a friend. Only one unrelated person has bought my art in the nearly 8 months I've been open.

On average I get about 10-15 views a day.

I have Etsy ads turned on for $1/day

I have an Instagram and post some of my artwork there but it seems very difficult to get noticed.

My two questions:

  1. Now that my shop is a bit more established and has followed the usual advice, how do I drive more traffic to it? I have done my absolute best with my titles, tags, and I've started using my own pictures for my art instead of AI generated mock-ups (there are a few that still have outdated pictures and I'll be fixing those soon). I feel that most people want to buy from shops that are already established, have tons of reviews, etc. but will be wary about buying from a new shop.

  2. Would branching out my available items be a turnoff to you as a buyer? I've been trying to focus on my art itself instead of selling things with my art on them, but maybe I should reconsider selling them as postcards or greeting cards? I actually have my first craft fair next month and I've made about 25 bookmarks so far, so I've considered listing those on my Etsy as well. But would having variety in the types of items I sell take away from the artwork?

Definitely appreciate any additional advice anyone has for me!

[For Hire] Let me paint your house in an ink-and-wash watercolor style!

I'm currently open to commissions for ink-and-wash or storybook-style watercolor paintings of your home or other architecture subjects! Prices depend on the complexity of the house and size of the painting but generally will run $30-75 USD.

Commissions will include pictures of the initial pencil sketch and the ink-and-wash step (if applicable). Half of the cost is due after the pencil sketch with the rest due when the painting is completed. Shipping costs are incorporated into the price of the painting.

If you have any questions please feel free to DM me!

Here's a bunch of my latest paintings! I've been painting for about 9 months and I definitely think I'm developing a "style". Or at least figuring out what subjects I'm better at painting than others!
