How can I politely ask for someone to be quiet for a bit in a conversation when I need to take notes or read something?
Often in work-related conversations, I’ll need to read something, or write notes, or even mentally process something. I’ll say something like “Can you give me a moment? I need to take notes/read something/etc.”
It usually works well when it’s just notes, but for some reason, when I’m reading something, people see it as an open invitation to talk about something else. They usually understand not to continue with the ongoing discussion, but they’ll just talk about whatever else is on their mind.
Is there something I could say that would make it clear that I need silence for a bit, but wouldn’t come across as rude or an invitation to chat about something else?
LPT: instead of keeping a list of movies you want to watch in your notes app, make a YouTube playlist of the trailers
That way you can get a better sense of the mood of the movies when you check the list. And you could put the playlist on shuffle to randomly pick one.
What everyday word would work well as a name if it weren’t already something mundane?
reddit.comWhat’s a piece of media that people would clearly understand as a parody or homage when it came out, but has since lost its context?
reddit.comIf I’m running on trails and the road, what type of shoe should I get?
I want to get into running, but I plan to run on roads and trails. I assume it would be better to get trail shoes and use those for the road too rather than the other way around, but I’m wondering if that’ll be detrimental to the shoe or cause some other problems.
What would you recommend I do?
Been wearing Lems for a few years. Where should I go from here?
Sorry if this is too broad of a question.
Over the past few years I’ve transitioned mostly over to Lems and it’s been great! But I have a few things I need new shoes for and I don’t want to break the bank on, so I was wondering if there were any cheaper alternatives I should aim for. Here’s what I need in order of importance:
Running shoes: I really need to get into cardio and I think my current gym shoes (Lems Primal) aren’t the best for it. Running shoes could be tricky, I guess, since they typically need to be tight.
Dress shoes: I have a couple pairs of Lems loafers which are fine for going to the office, but not for more formal settings.
Hiking shoes/boots: similar to the running shoes. Right now I have a pair of Merrells which are pretty good, but still tight around the toes.
Work boots: my current pair fit pretty well, but the lace hooks aren’t doing too well.
I hope that’s enough information to work off of. Let me know if you need any more.
Edit: I believe my measurements are 13 4E in US units
Can anyone help me find the bit of the Victorious review where Quinton describes how he would end the show?
It’s the bit where the punchline is the puppet getting up and walking away. I found that so funny. I need to watch it again.
Either the timestamp or the clip on its own would be great.
Hey, it’s my first post on the sub, so I hope I’m doing this right.
I’m really interested in horror that plays with subtleties. The kind of stuff where the dread comes from realizing that you didn’t even notice what was wrong. Could be something supernatural or something realistic.
I’m kind of looking for the horror equivalent of the selective attention test: https://youtu.be/vJG698U2Mvo?si=9HRsviEgPituna6H
