Party Scene Question

For anyone who goes to this school, how is the going-out/party scene? Is there usually something to do on weekends, like bars, clubs, house parties, etc.? Is it easy to meet people and find a group to go out with, or is the social scene pretty quiet?

Move-in Day Questions

Move-in Day Questions
Hi! I’m moving into Horizon at USF and I’m planning to move in a day early on the 19th. I had a few questions for anyone who has done this before:
- When you get there, do you go to the Hub front/service desk to get your room key? Where exactly is it?
- Do they provide moving carts/dollies to help get everything from the car to the room?
- If I arrive with all my stuff before I’m able to get my key, is there somewhere I can temporarily leave my things while I check in?
- Is there anything different about moving in a day early that I should know?
Any advice/tips would be appreciated! :)

Bedroom cooling hacks when AC is set to 78°?

Hey everyone,
I live in a house, but I feel like this sub might have the best practical hacks for this.
My parents keep the AC set to 78°F and I can’t change it, but my bedroom still feels really hot and uncomfortable, especially at night.
I already have a Govee tower fan, and I keep it on the highest setting, but it doesn’t feel strong enough to actually cool the room down. I’ve also tried a regular fan, but I’m still not comfortable.
Does anyone have any real, effective hacks to make a room feel cooler without changing the thermostat?
Just trying to make the room feel bearable. Thanks!

How do I make my bedroom cooler when my parents set the AC to 78?

Hey everyone,
I know 78°F isn’t technically super hot, but my room still feels really warm and uncomfortable, especially at night. My parents keep the AC set there and I can’t change it.
I already have a Govee tower fan, and I always keep it on the highest setting, but it still doesn’t feel like it moves enough air or actually cools the room down. I also use a regular ceiling fan, but it doesn’t help much either.
Does anyone have actual solutions that really work for cooling a bedroom in this situation? I’m open to anything—fans, window tricks, bedding, products, setups, whatever actually makes a difference.
What works best when the AC is set high like this?

Major switching and new Advisor

Hi! I’m an incoming freshman and I recently changed my major. I was told I’d be getting a new advisor, but I haven’t heard from them yet.

For anyone who’s been through this, how long did it take for your new advisor to reach out? Should I wait a bit longer or contact advising myself?

Thanks!

Switching majors before freshman year (Kinesiology → Health Science)

Hi! I’m an incoming freshman currently admitted as a Kinesiology major, but I want to switch to Health Science.

How easy is it to switch before the semester starts? Should I do it now or wait until orientation? Also, will it mess up my class schedule?
