Stonehearst Asylum (2014)

Stonehearst Asylum (2014)

Kate Beckinsale, Micheal Caine, Ben Kingsley and Jim Sturgess

The film is about a young medical graduate who accepts a job at a remote, mental institution, only to realize that the hospital's strange methods hide something darker.

I caught this film on streaming a few years back and I was surprised how good it was. It is a gothic horror based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. It has some big names but surprisingly went under the radar. A standout performance from Kate Beckinsale which didn’t get the praise it deserved. This film does have a decent twist and a good adaptation of Poe’s original work. Not sure if was marketing at the time or the budget this film didn’t get advertised much and didn’t stay at the cinemas for too long. I believe it was also known as Eliza Graves in the US.

Budget shave creams, any advice?

Just to follow up on my earlier blade query, I have chosen the below shave creams to start off with. The Erasmic Cream and Palmolive was £1.99 ($2.65 USD) from budget drug stores and the Nivea was £5.24 ($6.98 USD) from Amazon UK. Are these the best I can hope for in this price bracket or can I get better?

My main requirements is that the cream have a good lather and doesn’t irritate the skin. I am using a plastic shaving bowl from ebay.

Astra Green or Bic Chrome Platinum

I am very new to DE shaving and only started in March this year. I am thinking of buying a bulk sleeve of of Astra Green or Bic on Amazon UK. Which one should I go for? I hear good things about both and they are similarly priced.

Rebel Ridge (2024)

A former Marine confronts corruption in a small town when local law enforcement unjustly seizes the bag of cash he needs to post his cousin's bail.

Not sure if anyone likes this film but its a hidden gem in my opinion. Totally didn't have any expectations but was astonished how good it was from start from finish. The pacing of the film is good and all the cast are stand out. The lead has some real presence and Don Johnson is on form as always.

Reopen Chase UK account?

I had an active Chase UK account back in 2023 but closed it. Its been over 3 years now and I wanted to check if they allow people who have left to re-open accounts. Has anyone has any success with this?

Found out my 73-year-old dad secretly married a woman back home 13 years ago and gave her almost everything

So I’m 44, been living abroad for over 30 years. My mum came to the UK about 13 years ago for cancer treatment and we’ve all stayed here since because of her health. None of us have been back to Bangladesh properly in that time.

Turns out my dad (who’s now 73) secretly got married again to this woman who’s around 41. They’ve been married for about 13 years and she’s had two kids with him. He sold off family land and basically gave most of the money to her. Then he went and bought a 6-storey building in her name in the small town we’re from in Comilla district. I only found out recently through some documents and photos that got sent to me.

My mum still has no idea. She thinks everything’s fine. I’ve got proof of the marriage, the building in her name, her ID, even her birth certificate. The whole thing feels like he just started a whole new life while we were stuck dealing with mum’s illness and everything here.

Is there anything I can actually do about this from the UK? Or is the property just gone? I don’t even know where to start with Bangladeshi law around bigamy or family property. Any advice from people who know how this stuff works back home would be appreciated. Feeling pretty lost right now.
