Child free destination wedding at 6 months?

Hi all, a good friend just invited me to be in her bridal party for her wedding, which will be when my baby is about 6 months. It’s a destination wedding in another state. The wedding is child free. I will be both pumping and breastfeeding at the time. It’s a Sunday wedding and we’re both short on vacation time, so we can’t extend it for fun. Money is a bit tight with starting daycare that month.

I am trying to decide if I should go and how to handle child care. As far as I can tell, my options are:

- hubs and I both go and get a babysitter there (yikes random strangers with my baby!?)
- I go alone (yikes separated from my baby?!)
- Hubs comes with us and stays in the hotel with the baby (this is shitty and expensive for him to fly only to sit in a hotel room)
- bring my MIL to do child care (expensive! Extra flights and hotel room)

What would you all do? Or do you have any better ideas? I’d like to go and I’m really going to let her down if I don’t, but I’m leaning toward it not being feasible. Any advice?

Stroller wagon?

Hi all,

I’m looking to buy a stroller wagon for beach and camping activities.

My girl will be 3 months on our first trip, so I’m hoping for something safe to nap in that she can also grow into with seats. Planning on a second kid, so ideally two seats. I’m not expecting her to ride in it yet - just gear and naps as a NB and then two seats as a toddler.

Would love a sun shade and good all terrain wheels.

Any recommendations? Thank you!

MIL’s pet names make my eye twitch

This is so petty and inconsequential. I know. I’m so glad she loves my daughter (7 weeks old). I send her regular photos and she came to visit for a week during the first month. I want my mil to have a relationship with my daughter, despite some general boundary stomping tendencies. This is all probably just a combo of hormones and a reflection of challenges in the relationship, especially during their postpartum visit, that would make me nitpick.

BUT Every time I talk her or she texts me to ask how the baby is, she calls her something along the lines of “my pretty pretty princess💖💖💖” I swear it gets another adjective and another pink emoji every time. Last text had no less than 4 adjectives and 14 hearts. She does this verbally too.

I am probably hormonal but that sickly sweet tone really makes my eye twitch. Ew.

Note: I would never say anything to her or try to stop it. It’s just… ew. 🤢😆

NB in wildbird ring sling

7 week old, first time in the ring sling. Maybe she’s too low?

Hello! I’ve been carrying my 6 week old in a stretchy wrap. The weather is rapidly approaching Very Hot and it’s clear to me that she’s going to overheat in all these layers. What are your recommendations for a carrier with better airflow? I would also love one that will grow with her, isn’t too bulky, and is easy on and off (the stretchy wrap is such a pain!).

Thank you!

My poor sweet baby boy has to be rested for a full month. He’s only 2, so he’s extremely energetic.

What are you best tips for keeping them calm, comfortable, and entertained while healing?

We also have a second dog, so any tips on how to keep the other dog from riling him up are also appreciated!
