Is anyone here taking DHT blockers?

DHT blockers seem pretty popular with nonbinary people, but I've only read reports from adults. I've also heard that teens might take them to hide changes from their parents, but I've never seen anyone talking about it. Is anyone here taking them, for how long, and why?

What studies do you want to see?

There is a limited amount of research surrounding this condition. What studies would you like to see conducted? (I am not a researcher but I might be able to provide links, or someone in the comments might be able to, or a researcher might see this post)

How can we actually progress?

I want to leave this world better than I found it. I don't want people to go through what we have to when it's so preventable if treated early. Tucute "activism" has done nothing but make us look like clowns. So how do we actually progress, actually help doctors take us seriously, help minors get treatment before the damage is irreversible, and refine care options? I know we are a community of regular people, but I want to live in a world that isn't quite as hostile.

Treatment in minors should be more common

There is no other condition that you have to wait for so long to receive treatment. For depression, it's "don't wait more than two weeks" For physical conditions like gyno it's usually resolved relatively quickly. This condition is torture. We have to wait YEARS for treatment. I've waited so long, but I don't deserve treatment because I'm a minor. The passage of time feels so slow. I get worse every day.

HRT for minors should not be the outlier. There's nothing I can do to help myself, let alone people who have it worse.

I'm dysphoric and nonbinary, AMA

I saw a piqued interest in nonbinary people so I want to clear up any sort of confusion or answer any questions someone may have. I probably wouldn't believe nonbinary wasn't a thing If I wasn't because most "nonbinary" people are tucutes.

Edit: The AMA is still open but the responses have slowed. I'm shocked about how many responses I got, this sub clearly wants to hear what I have to say. Almost all the questions were very respectful, which I did not expect. I will probably not do an AMA again, I am bad at it. I'm bad at interpreting questions, guessing how much information someone wants, and bad at telling sarcasm.

How long have you been able to hide it for?

A good chunk of people in this sub start DIY as minors and plan to hide it for years. So, how long were you able to hide it for? Did anyone ever notice or were your parents the only oblivious ones?

What are your best excuses

What are the best excuses you've given/ lies you've told to avoid being caught/get out of being caught? I'm trying to start DIY, and obviously I don't intend to get caught, but I need to be prepared in case my normally oblivious parents become less so.

Can you tell when people are conventionally attractive

I am aroace and cannot tell when people are conventionally attractive. I can tell if someone is unclean, but not if they're "ugly". Some people say that they can appreciate pretty people the same way they appreciate art, but I find I'm not as moved by art or music as most people, either.

Former tucutes, what made you change your mind?

I myself am a former tucute, although I haven't been for awhile now. I considered myself non dysphoric because I didn't "feel like a man". Dysphoria had always been explained to me in social terms, and I have very little social dysphoria. I was still planning to transition to cure my physical dysphoria, but I didn't know what to call it and as such thought I didn't have dysphoria. Once I did just a little bit of research on what dysphoria and transmeds were, I switched sides.

Stop trying to relate to me

When I try to talk about being aroace people on the "asexual spectrum" always talk over me. We are not the same thing, we are not even similar. Me being aroace greatly changes my life (not in a bad way, I don't have a desire to desire relationships), and them feeling "sometimes asexual" is just a mood.

A question for those who have not medically transitioned yet

Do you find that you follow your natal dimorphism as closely as your peers? I have seen articles talking about how trans men are taller and trans women are shorter even before HRT, and anecdotally most of my trans friends are naturally androgynous. I also follow this pattern, I am naturally pretty androgynous.

The best way to deal with tucutes IRL

I meet tucutes surprisingly often IRL, and I find the best way to deal with them is to be visibly and audibly uncomfortable. If you play dumb with them, they will try to 'educate' you. If they're a dysphoric tucute (dysphorics are swept up in the ideology too) you can explain your discomfort instead of muttering general stuff. Try not to be rude or they will respond aggressively instead of backing off.
