How do we handle the $3,000 SSI couple asset limit when payday lands right at the end of the month?

How do we handle the $3,000 SSI couple asset limit when payday lands right at the end of the month?

My wife just qualified for Supplemental Security Income SSI. We have three kids and I work a full-time job.

I am incredibly stressed about keeping us under the $3,000 couple asset limit at the start of every month. Because my paychecks hit right at the end of the month, our bank balance spikes right before the 1st. I try to pay our bills early to pull the balance down, but processing times mean the payments take 2 to 3 days to clear.

On top of that, the Social Security Administration ssi counts our second car as an asset. It's a beat-up vehicle worth about $1,500, which means I actually only have a $1,500 buffer in the bank to avoid triggering an overpayment. I’ve resorted to withdrawing cash at the end of the month just to clear out the account, but I know cash still technically counts as a resource if they audit us. This all truly makes me wonder how many people have a mattress full of cash some place.

Dealing with SSI asset limits due to processing delays on my paycheck.

Need advice. My wife is disabled and on SSI. I work, and we have three kids.

Four or five months out of the year, my paycheck hits the bank right before the first of the month. This causes a huge issue. Even when I pay our bills immediately, it takes two or three days for the payments to process from "pending" to "posted."

Because the bank shows the money is still there on the 1st of the month, SSI flags it as being over the asset limit. This forces me to scramble or withdraw small amounts of cash just to avoid having the penalty overturned.

Has anyone dealt with this timing issue? How do you handle bill processing delays so it doesn't trigger an SSI asset flag?

How many people withdraw cash and keep it is their house in a safe and never have any problems later ?And yes I know that still legally counts as an asset but truth be told we don't have a lot left to put into a safe maybe a couple hundred each month.I just can't get the transactions to clear in time otherwise. I even over drafted the bank account trying to pay bills online before my check went through.

Information I have gathered from the new OGP and spark changes in a test market.

With all deliveries going to Spark in my area over the last month, I’ve gathered as much info as I can from people at three stores and two former Walmart associates now driving for Spark.

At all three stores, full-time hours are being cut to the minimum around 34 hours a week. Part-timers are getting 8 to 25 hours, and some aren't being scheduled for weeks at a time. Associates are being permanently moved or shoved into other departments half the time. Management gives us no information on whether this is permanent, and we're hearing rumors of store layoffs going around all three stores.

On top of this, the Spark orders are awful and aren't worth the mileage, yet there are still drivers willing to take any order they get. Spark also has a new ranking system in place similar to Doordash, to pressure driver into taking just any order. One driver quit Spark completely and took a job working on crawl spaces under houses.

Toxic work environment with Spark and Digital changes.

Why must Walmart create such a toxic work environment? With the new structure changes with OGP shifting orders from digital staff to Spark, reducing hours and staff, some Spark drivers are so happy and ready to take all that money they can't help but post on social media about it. To share the good news, all while digital staff is struggling to make up the difference. One was even in the comments like, Is that why inside digital staff started giving me the cold shoulder? Um maybe. I know they are just trying to make a living, and it wasn't their decision but it's hard to watch the victory lap when we can't even Spark if we wanted to do so.

My Thinking when it comes to the new wheels and casters being switched out on the OGP carts.

My Thinking when it comes to the new wheels and casters being switched out on the OGP carts to try to force people to pull and hurt themselves,it's still an OSHA violation. All Walmart did was make a deal with the cart manufacturer. The carts are not meant to be pulled. It is just as unsafe as Not having two points of contact on a ladder when climbing. Or Not lifting with your knees and not your back, or Holding a load away from your body when lifting. If we actually had carts properly made for pulling, the cart weight limits would be lower, and the cart itself would be made much lighter.but instead they come up with this half baked idea and would rather risk people safety because it's cheaper.

Wages inflation hour cuts and digital downsizing.

So, the last time Walmart raised its starting pay was early 2023, when it raised from $12 to $14 per hour. During this time, inflation has gone up 8.45% that means $14 today has the exact same buying power as $12.60 did in 2023. That's a pay cut of $1.40 per hour over the last three years.

But that's not good enough we also have to cut hours, and downsize digital and outsource jobs to spark that's why the only people winning are the people at the top.
