[Hiring] Short-Form Video Editor for AI/Tech Instagram Reels — Overseas Welcome, Long-Term Potential
Hey everyone,
I run nic.builds, a growing personal brand focused on AI, tech, productivity, and showing people practical ways to use new tools.
I’m looking for a short-form video editor who wants to grow with the brand long term.
My content is primarily talking-head Instagram Reels breaking down AI tools, new technology, tutorials, experiments, and interesting things happening in AI.
Here are two examples of the editing style I like:

The biggest thing I care about is understanding the content.
I don’t want someone who just throws captions, zooms, and B-roll onto a template. I want an editor who understands what I’m saying and uses the edit to make the idea easier and more entertaining to understand.
What I’m looking for:
- Strong English and comprehension
- Great sense of pacing — fast and clean with no unnecessary dead air
- Clean, modern captions
- Ability to closely recreate/reference editing styles I send
- Good instincts around B-roll, screenshots, graphics, memes, and visual storytelling
- Someone who takes feedback well and improves quickly
- Motion graphics skills are a big plus
- Interest in AI, tech, or creator content is a plus
You do not need years of professional experience. I’m open to newer editors who are talented, hungry to improve, and want someone who will give them consistent feedback and help them develop.
The work:
Vertical Instagram Reels, usually 30–90 seconds.
I’ll provide the raw footage and direction.
We’ll start paid per video. If we work well together, I want this to become consistent weekly work and potentially a full-time editing position as nic.builds grows.
Overseas editors are absolutely welcome. I just need some reasonable overlap with Mountain Time in the U.S. for communication.
If you’re interested, DM me with:
- Your country/time zone
- Your short-form editing portfolio
- Your rate per Reel
- What software you edit in
- A quick sentence about why you think you’d be a good fit for nic.builds
Please reach out only if you’re interested in something long term.
I’d rather find one editor, teach them exactly how I like content edited, and grow together than constantly rotate through freelancers.
