Musky hooks
My original replacement hooks were mustads, and thankfully the inventory is starting to run thin.
What treble hooks are you guys running? Looking for something strong, with a short shank. The mustads i had were kindve long!

I came into another heavy St Croix premier to add to my collection- it's a 8' blank that was lengthened about 5" in the rear. What reels do you guys recommend?
Currently using a tranx 400 hg, with 80lb braid.. but it feels overkill for bucktails. Is anyone running 300 sized reels with 65lb braid? If so, what reel?
This fish means the world to me. Its vindication for my obession.
33.5 or 34 depending on who you're asking! New Musky X rod got a ambitious guy on a Husky!
Ripping a husky medussa on the new st croix Musky X rod
A idea to help our Michigan fishery's effected by PFOS/PFAS where there is "No Eating" advisories is to add Musky! You may be confused as to why Id mention such a thing, but here in SE MI, the inland lakes are PRESSURED, and have MANY stunned populations, or populations that have dwindled because of overpopulation.
The issue works like this: PFOS/PFAS enter a watershed.. People stop keeping fish, which leads to an initial benefit that's ALWAYS short lived. Once a species gets overpopulated from under-keeping and a lack of proper management, those fry will deplete zooplankton (which all fry rely on). creating an environment that has less fish... but a lot of big ones.
This is seen at alot of lakes here.. rarely is there any balanced fishing lakes. You either go for size or numbers.. a lot of lakes lack variety (true for Pike and Bass).
I say add Musky/Muskie, because they're a low density fish, that will work on whatever forge is most abundant. They could be a GOOD solution for lakes with overpopulation or stunted growth due to Bluegill, Perch, and Crappie being overly abundant.
Any Supporters, make yourself known! stocking requests don't fall through because of 1 person.. but rather community support!
I understand St.cair is the "Musky Mecca", but the inland lakes are struggling and need some help. SE MI also has 40-50% of the population, and best cities. More Inland lakes would offer opportunities for windy days when st Clair has 2ft+ waves and boost fishing tourism
Best 100lb braid in a 150yd spool?
Tranx 400- og model has some issues.
Whenever i cast lures 2-4 oz it makes a plastic sounding grind/click. If i go over 4-5 oz the sound disappears/dampens. Reel works just fine, im just curious on what the issue is before it fails.
Ill be sure to post a video whenever im on the water, but any ideas would be helpful.
Is anyone a rod builder, or know one local to the metro Detroit area?
I have a old general St.Croix Premier Musky rod, 8' MH that Id like to play with- Id like to definitely extended the handle, and maybe move the reel seat forward slightly. If anyone knows anyone whom can do this, please feel free to respond or reach out
Ive had ALOT of encounters. A few 40"+ pike & musky that popped off, broke off from my line or leader. Trips to the UP where it seemed every fish on structure was following but not biting.. finally joined the 40" club.
