Alright, ik I'm gonna upset a lot of Maylors and theorists right now, but let's speak facts

Debunking a lot of the “about Matty” Taylor songs!

First, let me set up MY belief that...

They dated/had a situationship in 2014.

She broke up with/rejected him because of drug use

He was heartbroken.

She waited for some time, that being in between each breakup pre-Joe, for him to return and be fixed or whatever.

That didn't happen and she got with Joe.

She moved on from Matty.

They rekindle in 2022.

She and Joe start falling apart.

Matty is simply a distraction from her pain because he is everything Joe isn't (SHE IS NOT TRULY IN LOVE WITH HIM YET)

Jaylor break up.

Maylor get together.

Matty ghosts and leaves two months in.

  1. Dancing With Our Hands Tied

This can I see for Matty, but Joe was also 25 when he and Taylor linked, and they were also a private relationship.

  1. False God

About ignoring red flags, not infidelity

  1. Death By A Thousand Cuts

If Taylor ended her first relationship with Matty (or rejected him), it’s unlikely DBATC - a harsh breakup song - is about him.

  1. illicit affairs

Matty didn’t cheat, as far as we know.

  1. ivy

Again, a cheating song that’s probably about Calvin and Tom.

  1. gold rush

Could also easily be about Joe.

  1. right where you left me

Again, painful breakup song about cheating.

  1. champagne problems

Possible? Actually very possible if you think about it. But it could also be about Selena and Justin. I don’t think Matty proposed back then lol.

  1. Maroon

Maroon = red = Jake.

  1. Snow On The Beach

If you think she was falling for Matty, then sure, believe it’s about him, but that was unlikely (at that point), so prob about Joe.

  1. Question…?

A lot of evidence for this, but the Out Of The Woods sample screams Harry. Possibly about both/a cover-up song?

  1. Bejeweled

I don’t even think Bejeweled is about Joe because they hadn’t yet broken up and their breakup was extremely emotional for them (doesn’t really fit Bejeweled). I think either Calvin or Scott Borchetta.

  1. High Infidelity

Um, 100% about Calvin and Tom. April 29.

  1. Labyrinth and Glitch

Same reason as Snow On The Beach

  1. Hits Different

Definitely Joe. She couldn’t leave him.

  1. Anything on 1989

Too early.

  1. Anything on The Life of a Showgirl

Are we fr? No, Father Figure is definitely not about Travis being a PR boyfriend… No, Ruin The Friendship is not an allegory about Matty…

Thank you!

QFTC, I guess

I see so many people hate and hate and hate and hate and hate some more on Taylor simply for “being a big bitch to Olivia by forcing her to give her even more money,” as some people would probably call it. But then why don’t we say this when other artists ask for writing credits? Why isn’t Hayley Williams getting as much shade for getting writing credits on good 4 u? Or Gotye getting writing credits on Anxiety? I see a lot that Olivia was young, so Taylor was being mean by picking on a younger artist, but frankly, this is how the industry works. deja vu was a massive song, and do you really expect Taylor to just let Olivia get a “pass” because she was only 18? She and her team both knew they were sampling Cruel Summer. Also, do we even know it was Taylor’s team who reached our first?

Now, if we flip the tables, people are also complaining about Taylor stealing and not giving credit. Especially Ava Max gets this treatment. “Oh, she’s stealing. Oh, she’s stealing.” So why are we hating on Taylor? I just don’t understand. It feels more like a her thing than a music thing. Same thing with her jet use and billionaire status. People don’t care if Jay-Z is also both of these things, because he’s not Taylor Swift.

Please don’t start a fight in the comments. I just wanna see your take on this, because it does feel like there are double standards between Taylor and other artists. Like, if Olivia sampled Addison Rae, no one would say a thing.

Gotta do a note sheet for a math test lol. Wish me luck! But of course I had to do this. 😛

Whenever I tell people I like The 1975, they jump to the podcast. Always the podcast. And before I was a fan, I used that too as a reason to dislike him (besides him breaking Taylor's heart, which was honestly the stupider of reasons to dislike him). I know he's extremely vocal about the LGBTQ+ community, but is there really a way to even attempt justifying the "jokes" or him watching "Ghetto Gaggers"? Like, can we? And if we can't, what does that make him? Racist? Insensitive? Narcissistic? Nihilistic? Simply someone with ADHD and bad taste? I genuinely want to know your thoughts on this whole thing. Most fanbases provide the supporting angle to a debate, so I want to see if there's even a good angle we can look at this from.
