Do you guys think their next album should capitalise on the momentum they recently got?

The 1975 has gotten a lot of eyeballs on it because of the huge success of about you and a certain woman who shall not be named.

This isn’t to say that they were underground before, but it’s clear that a lot more people are anticipating their upcoming album.

There really aren’t other boy bands that people are this excited about and since a lot of newer artists are emulating the 1975 I think this could be their big mainstream moment.

Obviously that comes down to what the band actually wants, it’s not something that every artist would prefer. But if they are thinking, they should strike when the iron is hot.

Lemme know your thoughts goats!

Story time!

I went to study abroad, and there’s this person my friend, I mean, my crush. I’ve liked him for almost a year now, and somehow we became best friends along the way, even though I still haven’t confessed to him.
One time, I told him about how much I loved Being Funny in a Foreign Language by The 1975, especially the song About You. If there’s one song that feels like my life, it’s “About You.” Some people say it’s overrated, but I’ve been listening to it since the day it was released, and it’s always meant something deeper to me.

At first, he told me he wasn’t really into bands like The 1975. Still, I kept talking about the album and recommending songs to him anyway. Then one day, he told me he actually listened to the whole album. I honestly thought he was joking, but he wasn’t. He ended up loving it, and now it’s one of his go-to albums (literally listened to all the 1975 albums and songs)

Even now, months after I left, we still talk every single day. Whenever he goes somewhere new or explores a place, he sends me screenshots of the songs he’s listening to especially “About You” and songs from the album.

And sometimes I can’t help but wonder if he really just loves the music that much… or if maybe, somewhere along the way, he started liking me too. bc i never had the courage to confess bc im afraid it might ruin the friendship.

Every time I listen to All I Need to Hear, I end up thinking about him (it is his fave song). And honestly, the worst part is knowing I can’t really do anything about it. Somehow, the song says everything I’ve been trying so hard not to admit to myself.

1975 have donated a signed vinyl to war child

Came across this and thought people here might not have seen it — War Child UK (the children's conflict charity) are running a sweepstake and one of the prizes is a signed poster from The 1975.

Money goes to War Child so it's essentially a donation with a chance of winning something worth having as a fan.

Thanks to whoever posted the DM from Jamie about human too.

It was not listed in the dirty hit website, but in fact, she was there. So it must still be old pressings. Clear at that!

George Daniel Appreciation Post

He’s possibly the best producer of all time. I’m happy he’s getting the opportunity to work on his solo project and also work with other artists.
The 1975 as a band works so well because their producer is George, him and Matty are so symbiotic that they can always execute their artistic intentions perfectly.
Not to mention he’s a fantastic drummer.
I hope he starts getting a lot more mainstream recognition as a producer.

Absolutely bonkers for Adam's riff at 2:21 - Head.Cars.Bending live on YouTube

It's little bits like this that have me watching as much live stuff as I can. First, seeing this song live would blow my mind, but with added extras?? Adam Hann fkn rules!

If You’re Too Shy Let Me Know is the greatest pop song

This song is perfect in every sense. It’s a modern classic, sounds familiar but still feels original. The intro is heaven sent, lyrics thought provoking but not taking itself too seriously, and obviously it’s incredibly catchy. The saxophone plays a big part in this song, giving it The 1975 flair, it is such an underutilised instrument in modern pop music, and it’s given the chance to shine on the best sax solo ever on this song. It follows the formula of a perfect pop song and executes itself stunningly.
I really hope there’s at least one hit like she’s american, it’s not living, or too shy on the forthcoming album. I would adore another song similar to the sound, where everybody is fully engaged at their shows.

Whats your The 1975 origin story?

Which song/album introduced you to the band, and what memory is permanently attached to it?

Mine was Robbers. I stumbled upon a gif while scrolling through Tumblr in 2014 and was completely hooked. It became such an anthem for me—still gives me goosebumps every time it comes on.

“They don’t have one song where they need to be doing all that” - Are we discrediting the artistic expression of performance?

This saying is a very common joke that is told pretty much any time an artist has any form of stage presence. Whenever an artist tries to push the boundaries of live performances they’re met with that criticism. I mean, imagine if people said similar about vocalists: “they shouldn’t be trying so hard”.
This very specifically applies to the 1975 as Matty’s ‘consumption’ performance trended, and people didn’t know what to do about it.
I don’t know where the idea comes from that it’s cool to not care for artistic expression.
Live shows are supposed to be engaging and memorable, doesn’t the artist to some extent owe that to their fans?
For The 1975, it makes perfect sense why they give their all to the concerts. They’re all best friends who share extreme talent and who all deeply care about their art, so it adds up that they’d also care about the art of performing.
Matty had always been creatively clued in, sensitive, and genuinely interested in expanding his art across different forms.
The 1975 live are unmatched, because of the effort Matty puts into everything he does on stage. Caring for your art in the way that he does is what keeps people feeling inspired.
It’s cool to care.
