Help with processing a small homegrown coffee!

Help with processing a small homegrown coffee!

Hey everyone! My coffee cherries have been ripe for a few days now and I need to pick them soon. However, I’m really stuck on the post-harvest processing steps and could use some guidance.

I had an earlier batch that ripened, but my processing didn't turn out well at all. I suspect it was a fermentation issue. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of that slimy mucilage layer, so I just dried the beans with it still attached. As a result, the beans shrank a lot, and removing the parchment (the second skin) became nearly impossible.

Someone recently suggested that after depulping (removing the outer skin), I should puree the skins, mix them back into a container with the beans, and let the whole thing ferment for 20 days. I'm highly skeptical of this approach because it sounds like a guaranteed recipe for heavy mold, especially for a small batch like mine.

What is the most reliable, foolproof method to process a small, home-grown harvest like this? I want to safely get them from cherry to roast-ready green beans with the best possible results. How do you handle the mucilage removal and fermentation for micro-batches to avoid mold? Any advice or step-by-step guides would be hugely appreciated!

Help with Adenium: Cupping leaves

My Adenium's leaves are experiencing cupping and curling. It was infested with spider mites a few weeks ago, which I believe I controlled using a Castile soap spray. After shedding its leaves, the new growth emerged deformed like this. What is the issue?

It is placed under a grow light, and the Photone app shows a reading of 750-800. Controlling spider mites on houseplants is very difficult.

What's wrong?

I have these adeniums and since 2 months ago they start showing stress , increased the light , changed pot 2 weeks ago (thought it might be fertilizer burn) and they are dying or one shows unhealthy heaves.

They are under a VIPARSPECTRA grow light. My light meter app (Photone) reads 950-1050 PPFD. Increased from 550 gradually through 2 months.

I water them thoroughly, but only when the soil is completely dry.

The caudex on all of them is perfectly firm (no squishiness or signs of rot!).

I feed them once every 3 weeks.

Help - Regional Bursary - Trento?

Does Trento give regional bursary/financial aid to non Europeans based on ISEE? Like the bursary that Padua and Messina provide

Money tree Pruning- How much?

I have this money tree, and it was reaching my ceiling, so I pruned it last year. However, it didn’t grow back the way I expected and didn’t branch out nicely. It also has some damage from spider mites.

How much should I prune it this time? I was thinking of cutting it at the point marked by the white string and letting it branch out from there. Does that seem like a good idea?

Padua (information engineering) vs Trento (Computer science)?

I’m a Non-EU student torn between Information Engineering at Padua and Computer Science at Trento, and I honestly cannot decide.

On one hand, Padua offers a vibrant student life and a 50/50 shot at a regional bursary/scholarship, which would be a massive financial help, but their curriculum is hardware-heavy and the slow Universitaly approval ( taking 1.5 months) is making me extremely anxious about my visa timeline.

On the other hand, Trento’s program is perfectly aligned with my AI and software goals, and their lightning-fast 2-day Universitaly approval would make the visa process stress-free, but I’d have to manage without a regional bursary/scholarship.

Is it worth risking the visa delays (Italian embassy not opened yet) and studying hardware at Padua for the sake of the scholarship and social scene, or should I prioritize Trento’s curriculum and speed despite the financial trade-off?

BC Hydro Portable AC for seniors?

I’m looking into the BCHydro free portable AC program for my grandmother. According to the current eligibility criteria, it mentions that the units are "available for individuals referred by regional health authority programs."

The issue is that despite her age (80's) and need (she lives in Apartment), she hasn't received a referral from the health authority this year or last year.

From what I’ve gathered, it seems they might not even accept a standard/bc hydro referral form that filled out by a family doctor.

Has anyone had any experience getting a unit in the last few months without an official health authority referral? It feels like the rules have become much stricter compared to a year or two ago.

Would love to hear if anyone has successfully navigated this recently or has any tips on how to get the health authority to actually send the referral.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a highly skilled pelvic floor physiotherapist who has solid, specific experience treating men.

I’m dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction—specifically a hypertonic pelvic floor. Along with the tightness, I am experiencing nerve-related symptoms including mostly itching, tingling, heat, and a persistent burning sensation , sometimes crawling feeling in the genital and perineum areas. I have neurologist appointment in 2 months but I doubt he does have any solution for me.

I’ve already visited a couple PTs but unfortunately haven't had any success or relief yet. I need someone who truly understands the complexities of male pelvic pain and pudendal/nerve irritation.

If anyone has had personal success with a specific clinic or therapist for similar male/female PF issues, (most know general things abt pelvic) I would really appreciate your recommendations.

Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on my Desert Roses. I have three in total: two that I’ve had for a year, and one I just recently bought. Unfortunately, none of them seem happy or healthy right now.

Here is what’s going on:

The new plant: The leaves are starting to turn yellow and drop.

The two older plants: They seem to be drying up, haven't put out any new leaves, and generally look very weak. They’ve only flowered once in the entire year I've had them.

One detail: the tips of their leaves dried up and turned brown during the very first month I brought them home, and they never really bounced back.

Here are my care details:

Light: They are under a VIPARSPECTRA grow light. My light meter app (Photone) reads about 500 PPFD.

Watering: I water them thoroughly, but only when the soil is completely dry.

Caudex: The caudex on all of them is perfectly firm (no squishiness or signs of rot!).

Fertilizer: I feed them once every 3 weeks.

Does anyone know what could be causing the yellowing, dry leaf tips, and lack of growth? Could it be a humidity issue, nutrient burn, or something with the light intensity?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
