After almost 100 responses telling me my paint scheme wasn’t as bad as I thought, here’s squad one!

So excited for a full Steel Legion Army! I’ll be taking advantage of the Steel Hammer detachment to run double Stormswords.

Superheavy List Help

Do you guys see any flaws with this list? It’s for casual play, so doesn’t need to be super competitive, just vaguely viable.

I am going to be playing several games against World Eaters, Necrons, and Salamanders, and want to have a good time with my two superheavies.

Commissar (30pts)
Tech-Priest Enginseer (45pts)

Would you be upset to play against an army that looked like this?

To preface I am an Imperial Guard player because I love tanks, particularly superheavy ones. However, I need a lot of infantry to be able to play those tanks effectively.

I’m not a big fan of painting masses of infantry, so I picked a scheme that lets me get away with basically no painting. For the model above all I did was drybrush the yellow over a brown primer and paint the details.

Obviously this quick approach turn out minis that are pretty ugly, and I just want to know if it’s too bad. I need to paint ~60ish infantry models and I’d rather get it over with so I can start painting the two Baneblades I got for the Steel Hammer detachment.

Thank you for your time!

Coats done!

Do yall think the color is too dark?

Also I know it’s a very messy model but I have 60 to paint in the next couple days so I’m basically drybrushing and detailing.

The Start of Something Great?

Excited to start Steel Legion! Quick question—is there any tonal variation in their coats throughout the regiments? Planning on spray priming Fur Brown and then drybrushing Demigod Flames (both from army painter), but that will be a little more brown than I see in media.

Many thanks for the advice! Updated Model—any tips before I varnish her?

Thank you very much to anyone who offered advice! I wanted to keep the metal pretty standard so that she didn’t stand out too much from my other models, but the purpleish skin is wayyyyy better for contrast than the original.

How do I improve this? Not happy with it so far.

Really not happy with how this turned out. Feels so flat and the skin looks terrible, plus the ammo belt is just not right and i’m not sure why. Would appreciate the help!

Would love to hear your thoughts, as well as what models I should prepare next strategy wise!

This is a bit of a repost as the pictures in my last post were too dark! I retook them and am posting this again (I hope that’s okay). I’d love to hear your thoughts on my custom lore (below), and on my kitbash+paintjob!

Lore:

The Enoch-Class Prototype Heavy Infiltration Armor is an experimental exo-suit built for special operations in the trenches, while its counterpart, typical Machine Armor, is designed for long battlefield operations. While this typical pattern Machine Armor often requires the body modification of the operator, the Enoch-Class was designed for high ranking officers and special operations troops to use it while still maintaining their natural physical form.

This armor set can be deployed on the ground with regular troops, or dropped from aircraft at certain height (Note: although this a design feature, field tests have shown a mere 23.84% survival rate using this method).

The operator of an Enoch-Class Suit is fully outfitted inside of the armor, as often times the tight confines of building and bunkers will not allow for the operator to wear his suit. In this case, the soldier can eject the helmet and widen the neck hole with a pressurized spring/gas-ejector system. After this, the soldier is free to leave, already having full gear and a small submachine gun equipped.

The Armor, with reduced internal systems to allow for more interior space, is at this point extremely prone to failure mid combat, where limbs will freeze up and the operator will not be able to control the hydraulics, making them a sitting target.

This armor is still in the testing phase, and so is only available to high ranking or veteran officers within the garrison of New Antioch.
