the UGC lesson I learned after getting ignored by brands

when i first started UGC, i thought having a perfectly looking portfolio will get me a lot of clients. something idealistic. that's why i spent too much time curating what seem to me a perfect portfolio. but i did not notice much improvements. i was thinking what could be something that im doing wrong only to find out that brands don't necessarily need to see your prettiest or perfect portfolio, they need to understand better of what you can create and contribute for them.

that's why i changed my portfolio and also the way i approach them, instead of just simply introducing myself as a UGC creator who would love to work with their brand, i started being more specific with my plans and ideas as a way of proposing collaboration with them. more professional and will easily catch their attention.

and also, don't dwell too much on your followers count while doing the wrong thing to keep the engagement increasing. make sure to think thoroughly of the ways you can make your content better to reach wider audience, will the quality satisfy a wider scale of audience? will it hook their attention even in the first few seconds? can i make a content that's natural in a way that it doesn't look promotional? and so on.

and remember, not all brands will accept your offer or proposal, it's normal to be ignored in this industry but don't be discouraged. make this as an inspiration to keep going and keep improving the quality of your contents.

for other UGC creators: what's one thing that you learned from your experiences that you wished someone could've told you earlier?

what started as a joke, became a side hustle

i won't consider this as something weird but rather an unexpected side hustle. my friend and i created an account to stalk her ex and the girl he cheated with. at first, we thought on making a home service nail artist however it's already too common. instead, we made a business account selling fuzzy wire or pipe cleaner flower handicraft, just for a front to stalk their social media accounts.

however... a few days passed and we started receiving dms for commissions looool so we had no choice but to grab the opportunity and started learning how to create these flowers, and honestly it wasn't that hard to learn, you just need to have the patience and dedication and love for the art.

so now, my friend and i are starting to earn from our commissions from the account we made that was made to stalk her ex. it wasn't that much but we sell a lot especially on special occasions or random commissions.

idk if should that be considered as a blessing or disguise or just our luck lol what do u guys think?

ps. photo is just for reference for fuzzy wire flowers

Building your UGC Portfolio as a Beginner

one thing i wish i knew as a beginner on UGC is that your portfolio doesn't need to be packed with paid brand work. you can always work with what you have or currently own, creating sample videos to attract clients and brands.

for example:

you can post yourself doing skincare and share things that you like about it, or even the coffee that you drink on the daily showing lifestyle and how you enjoy it, even body care and POV videos with voiceover can cause attraction and give you attention. it is a way for you to actually show brands what you are capable of creating and what you are able to contribute for them.

your portfolio should include, of course, a short intro about yourself and the content or niche that you create. make sure to include your best videos, showing your services such as ugc vids, product demos, voiceovers, photos, and more. don't forget your contact information, most people overlook this part.

don't show yourself as a beginner, impress them that you can work efficiently, that you are capable and can continuously learn to contribute better contents.

for creators who are currently looking for their first clients: what's the hardest part for you right now and what are your ways and strategies in overcoming this?

ai as therapist?

we all know AI doesn't have human emotions nor empathy but it's actually both scary and amazing how these AI models are designed to make us feel like they understand what we feel.

Beginner-Friendly MCP Workflows that helped me, and might help you too

Before, I thought that MCP was just solely for impressive AI demos, but later on I've realized its practical use that I can actually use in real-world daily workflows.

First is turning messy study notes into a useful comprehensive study guide. You just have to connect Claude to a folder containing your lecture notes wherein you could ask Claude to navigate specific topics, summarize lengthy contents, or even create practice questions to help you review.

Second is it can keep track of my coding projects. Again, connect Claude to your project files or development tools. It's especially useful when your project contains a lot of files. This way, you don't necessarily have to manually explain and scan the entire codebase.

And lastly, it helps me organize my research. As someone who deals with research a lot of times, keeping plenty of research papers, notes, and references in one workspace can be overwhelming. But with an MCP connection, Claude can work with these information instead of doing everything manually on your own.

Lesson from using MCP: always keep it simple

Experimenting with Claude + MCP made me realize that fewer tools work better and helps with efficiency. You just need to have a small set of focused tools that's easier to manage. Less hassle but efficient.

MCP became handy the moment I used it to remove repetitive context switching instead of doing tasks manually. I could just expose those through MCP and let Claude gather the context itself.

Don't ask 'What can I connect with MCP?' Instead ask 'What repetitive task can I remove from my workflow?'

This way, Claude could gather information from the project without manually copying everything.

pls help, confused

my boyfriend and i had sex twice on july 14, at first we used condom and he pulled out. he urinated and cleaned then after 30 mins or so, he inserted it for a few strokes then wore condom and continued.

now, my period is expected appear around july 26-27 but it did not. im also aware that it might be delayed because i was stressed and anxious this month (had rabies scare). but im still having the preg scare because i am experiencing sore breasts and cramps for the past 3 days.

i took the test earlier, held my pee for ~5 hours since I wasn't able to do it during the first morning pee. test came out negative.

can i trust the negative if we say that i ovulated late? can it determine the hcg level already?

thanks!

used condoms but delayed period

hello, my bf and i had sex twice last july 14 (we used condoms, pulled out before ejaculating, and checked) i had my period last june 27 but i still haven't got my period for the month of july. right now i am experiencing sore breasts, cramps (lower abdominal pain that runs to my thigh, and lower back pain), as well as minimal to no discharge since there's no wet discharge on my underwear. idk if we're safe since I couldn't tell if this is luteal phase or early signs. send advice pls 🥹🙏🏻

i might take a test next week
